I want to thank you for playing the full triple-screen version of this song. When i saw the thumbnail of it I clicked on it right away. One of my favorite performances at Woodstock. Ten Years After was Alvin Lee-Guitar and Vocals, Leo Lyons-Bass and Lee Churchill-Drums. "I'm Going Home (by Helicopter)" an adaptation for Woodstock due to the traffic mess, is really a medley of a bunch of different blues tunes including: "Baby, Please Don't Go", "Devil With The Red Dress On", "Blue Suede Shoes", "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On", "Shake It Baby Shake It", "The Stomp" and i may have missed one or two. And a full grown watermelon at the end as a reward. This segment of the movie "Woodstock" was directed by Martin Scorsese, n Academy Award winner, for other stuff.

They used to send 'Woodstock" out around the movie theaters once a year or so. We had a 'drive-in' theater that would broadcast over an FM frequency so you could play the movie through your car stereo. That was always a blast. Still watching it 10-15 years later in the theater with the air hanging heavy with smoke brought back memories. It's been awhile since I've seen it as a whole but with YT I'll call up a song every now and then. Usually it's Santana or this one, or Joe Cocker's send up of the Beatles 'A Little Help From My Friends'. Anyway, good times and thanks for being willing to play the 'old' music. Just a side note, this was before guitarist's had a floor full of effects pedals.

@AliasMark69, I saw them in 1978 in Kansas City, a tiny venue that only held 2000 people. The title of their show was "Ten Years Later". He interacted with all of us with stories about Woodstock, the brown acid, the other groups, the rain and the mud. It was a 4 hour long show of the most unbelievable music, stories, lights, and just pure fun!!! Def a concert I will never forget. A Space In Time is my favorite album of theirs.

They played this barn burner as the final song of an hour-long set! That's Alvin Lee on guitar, and he was one of the great guitar slingers of the 60s and 70s. Try I'd Love To Change The World and Help Me from TYA, and The Bluest Blues from his solo career, with George Harrison of the Beatles sitting in on slide guitar.

Alvin Lee was the guitarist for Ten Years After, a late '60s British Blues band. "I'm Going Home" was a Boogie Woogie fast blues composition by the band, which they'd perform as a set climax. Ten Years After disbanded in 1975. Alvin Lee died in 2013 of complications from a surgical procedure.

They had been a band for several years playing under small record labels and were invited to Woodstock because they had quite a following. This set came after a two hour rain delay and this song was how they finished their set. Needless a big record label saw the performance and it didn't take long to sign them.

Alvin Lee was one of the greatest guitarists ever, but his name is hardly if ever mentioned in modern day lists of the best ever. He deserves far more credit and respect than he now gets. Alvin Lee's guitar, 'Big Red,' is one of the most famous guitars of all time. In my opinion, and based only on the movie Woodstock and not from having been there, I rank this performance, Santana's Soul Sacrifice and Sly and the Family Stone's performance as the three greatest most electrifying performances at Woodstock.

The Vietnam War, assassinations of all kinds of leaders, the peace and hippie movements, introduction of recreational drugs (not the crap people are into today that just destroy lives and families), and yes, the absolute best rock music and musicians ever. I agree he is one of the best. This is a short version of this song there is actually a much longer one my buddy had. My son wanted to know if I heard of this guy so I broke out some of my old LPs. My son wanted to know what he did after this song and I told him he went home. Plus trying to convince my wife he was not a black guy from the Mississippi Delta he was a white guy from England was impossible. My father who was there tried to tell her but she would not listen until she saw the video.
