John Meadors was very annoying when I first started watching this case. He was fidgety, touching witnesses and could not keep still. I thought he was nuts. But I’m not from the south. Today he single handedly won this case for the state. That was the best closing argument I have ever seen. He was one with the jury for one hour and was simply magnificent. He showed no charts and no timelines. He used very little notes. He just talked about common sense, real people and choices. He sealed the deal. Well done sir.

We have one attorney here in KS who does cases worldwide (Carl cornwell) and he doesn’t sugar coat and gets right to the facts as they are.... Mr Waters reminds me of him and he’s not one u wanna be cross examined by in a court room. Trust me. He was about $60,000 for my husbands case but WELL WORTH IT FOR THE OUTCOME. this guy here is pacing too much, I’m getting bored. @@Ecology0136 I noticed the pacing also but thought it was very effective. It seemed to help him organize his thoughts and maybe mesmerized the jury. It was punctuated by a lot of changes of pace verbally, i.e. raising or lowering his voice, and varying the delivery. Also his other body language, turning around, going back to the lectern, pointing, gesticulating, that little twiddling thing he does with his fingers. And we he turned that witness stand chair around you almost felt that Shelly was sitting in it.

Of course the pacing could be distracting to many, but most of us have seen plenty of closing arguments by prosecutors, and the pacing seems to be there 90% of the time. I listened to his closing argument, rarely watch, so I’m guessing that helps me not to be distracted.

Rebuttal close was spot on!!! He did a fantastic job of pointing out COMMON SENSE.. Alex is guilty and so many people get hung up on motive, we’ll never know why he truly did it but we don’t need to know why to know he did it. Paul, thankfully, caught his own killer with the kennel video, it’s the one thing Alex couldn’t control and the one thing he didn’t know about. An innocent man does not lie about the last time he saw his family alive, a guilty man separating himself from the crime scene does that. Alex is a lawyer he knows that an innocent man would never lie to law enforcement in a murder investigation. He only admitted to being there cause he was caught not cause he forgot. And why would anyone come to a hunting lodge, loaded with weapons, unarmed to kill someone? It makes no sense! They were shot with family owned guns. How anyone can look at this evidence and not be convinced of his guilt is remarkable to me. We don’t need motive to know he killed his wife and son. Use common sense people.

I am from South Africa, our justice system is based on Roman Dutch law and follows age Old English Court procedures. People in black robes, no shouting, animation etc I honestly thought this sort of behavior happened in Hollywood court dramas. Was fascinating to see. Wow. What a brilliant, masterfully delivered speech. The Columbo reference is genius! This is such a Columbo crime: the haughty liar, the video-tape reveal, etc. I can see that connection alone igniting the jurors' minds. I'm moved to hear Bubba is with Blanca❤Mr. Meadors gave voice to both victims, and bore witness to the grief of their loved ones. His description of Paul was especially touching--respectful, kind, smart, funny, even loving. Like a father should see his son. Like Colombo, he cut through the rhetoric, charm, and surface of a long trial. In paying homage to the salt-of-the-earth honesty of Blanca and Ms. Shellie, he called out AM's narcissistic presumption that he could intimidate those women simply because of their status in his home. He showed how AM doesn't see what matters: integrity, love, good work, the truth below the surfaces. Listening to this speech is like seeing the ground open up and out comes the passions underlying the trial and this sad story created by someone who turns out to be nothing more than an empty, useless, garden-variety narcissist, who just happened to be born into money.

John Meadors did an outstanding job on this closing rebuttal. He successfully drove home the point about AM not calling Buster right after the murders. There is no father or mother out there who wouldn't be calling their 1 surviving son to warn them unless they knew for sure there was no threat. This was a point that I was hoping would be made, so I was relieved to hear it. There were times during the trial that I though Meadors went over the top with theatrics but here, he's a master and he drives home every important point he needed to. Between this and Waters closing, they didn't miss a thing. Fantastic work, there can't be any other verdict buy guilty.

Yup that really was a great point. Just like after the murders he wasn't worried about him or buster cause he was the danger! Also the 20 seconds to calling 911 and it was obvious that if your wife and son are clearly long long gone and absolutely no help for them you would be kneeling over their bodies, crying, mourning and holding them. Not rolling up getting out and calling 911 essentially immediately. Then everything else was a obvious bad act. His crying, voice tone and "paw paw" stuff was utterly disgusting and offensive. It shows if you have money, and a certain level of looks - you can mesmerize the jury with crazy stories that make no sense. OJ walked because he had more expensive and experienced lawyers. Kaylee walked because they needed to prove intent - which they did not. In my mind she was a neglectful, selfish and callous mother but they did not prove to me that she intended for Caycee to die. She wanted to party and literally forgot her child in the trunk. As sad as that was - we don't judge carelessness the way we do a murderous intent to kill someone. If Alex did this - this was malicious, intentional and horrific. He is guilty - but I think the prosecution should have waited to find the clothes and the guns. That would be irrefutable. Right now it could go either way.

It can be a big scoop for you AFTER you fact-check, which should be easy enough if you have Becky Hill's book "Behind the Doors of Justice." It turns out not only Becky Hill and the jurors of the Alex Murdaugh case wanted "their 15 minutes" but they put their children, too, with them. In Becky "Boo" Hill's book page 191, you see a photo of Boo's daughter with this caption: Country music star, Dustin Lynch, and my "plus one" (daughter Aubrey) spent time together in NBC's The Today Show green room. TRANSLATION: At least Becky Hill AND HER DAUGHTER flew expense-free to New York with at least three jurors who voted guilty, each of which PRESUMABLY has a "plus one," too. So, at least 8 people had a luxury junket to New York paid for with the blood and tears of Paul, Maggie, and Alex Murdaugh. It gets even worse: At pages 59-60 of her book, Becky Hill writes: What I learned on our flight to New York City after the trial was that three close friends of his [meaning of a male juror who voted guilty] all chipped in and paid the financially strapped juror his regular salary. For all six weeks of the trial! Several thousand dollars. TRANSLATION: Thousands of dollars were being paid DIRECTLY from an outside source to a juror who voted guilty to enable him to stay on the jury. WHO ARE THOSE THREE CLOSE FRIENDS? Why was it important for them that THIS juror serve on the jury? Was that even their own money or were they funnelling it from an outside source? That is way, way, worse than anything Becky Hill admits to about her own misconduct.

I followed this trial everyday until closing arguments began and entered the hospital for hip replacement surgery. I was undecided and leaning towards reasonable doubt. I did my best to catch up. I did not see this until tonight and now I understand how the jury came to such a quick and unanimous decision. This was absolutely excellent, driven and left me without a doubt. One of the best comments on this case. How did he know when he needed to lie? It could have happened while he was visiting him mom so why lie about not being there before leaving? He cannot recall their last conversation, his clothes are missing, and he wanted others to lie about things. The timing of the hearing in boat case and request for financial information, and the revelation of his years of stealing. If I was on the jury, I would vote guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

I think that poll of 30% people thinking he was innocente comes from the fact that some people didn't quite grasp the complexity of the case, with some evidence coming in quite late during proceedings... rush judgment and emotions and the fact he is a master manipulator ( hence all the financial evidence crucial to determine and describe his character) can indeed make you think that he is innocent. However, law is reason free from passion. And the jury upheld that with a guilty verdict.

I was absolutely captivated watching this live. He took weeks and weeks of facts and wove it into a story for all of us. I had just watched the footage from the Moselle visit and it brought me to tears. When this closing was done, I knew deliberation would be short and they'd bring back a guilty verdict. I have never been so sure of something that I really had no way to know. After seeing the actual crime scene and imagining that warm quiet summer night and then listening to Mr. Meadors, I knew there was no other way this could go.

I didn't listen at all to defense closing arguments...can you believe I was afraid? I had no faith in the jury and thought they would be easily swayed by a masterful defense closing, trying to spin the evidence Most of us will never forget the OJ verdict. Then I lost all hope with the Casey Anthony verdict. I'm elated that Alex was found guilty and the jury did it with circumstantial evidence and common sense. Meadors was absolutely the linch pin in this case. His argument is what everyone needed to hear and gave the jury the confidence to make their decision.

You didn't miss much by not listening to the defense closing arguments. I too didn't want to listen, but then I gave in and listened to the last third or so. Rambling, meandering, and reading from a prepared script, it was like Mr. Griffin didn't even believe what he was saying. However, in retrospect I do believe the case was lost as soon as his client took the stand.

This man (John Meadows) was SO impressive, it grabbed my heart, his entire presentation was amazing, and totally genius. I watched the video of it every day for 3 days. Prosecution did Maggie and Paul right. Kudos to this amazing team for their extraordinary work. They never gave up and I pray the jury rewards the victims, their families and this team with a guilty verdict. I can’t wait to see this!!!

John Meadors single handedly saved this case from the lukewarm state closing till this point. He's the unsung hero as Waters and Wilson basking the limelight. I respect this man for his authenticity and tremendous skills as a prosecutor. You know he has prepared all his life for this closing.

John Meadors put his heart and soul into this case and he touched the hearts of the jury, his fellow attorneys, the judge and those looking and keeping up with the story on cable news and Online. He taught a Masterclass in how to close an argument with common sense. Not only did he use HIS common sense, but he got the jury to use theirs. He told the case as a story, and that helped everyone to see the situation for what it really was: A Cold. Blooded. Murder. that was committed by an evil individual, who in this case, is the husband and father of the victims. John Meadors put feeling and passion in this case as he fought valiantly for justice for 2 murdered people who were killed off guard by the one person who should have loved them: the husband and father. There's no telling WHAT he put his family thru before it came to this; that is why Maggie and Paul were not living with Alec. The Mudaughs were NOT even living together as a family, and that in itself speaks volumes. They all were going their own way. Paul was REALLY scarred, that is why he drank the way he did: what did he KNOW or have on his father? The boat case was a result of what was going on in the home of the Murdaugh family. You don't go driving a boat around drunk at night if your daddy really loves and cares about you. And Maggie KNEW her husband: she did not want to be with him ANYMORE. But she allowed him to manipulate her ONE last time-and look at the result! This is a warning story for any woman out there who is married to a monster: leave him and get yourself and your kid(s) as FAR away as possible before something like the Murdaugh murders happens to you!

John Meadors did the absolute best rebuttal close of all time!!! This man was totally relatable with the people he spoke to including me and everyone in the chat! He was captivating and got his point across with nothing but his words and I found that in itself spectacular!! He didn't need videos, pictures, ect.....just his words, the right words were enough!!! I honestly believe this got that guilty verdict handed down! I had to add that the story was finally told after a long 6 week trial!!! Bravo John!!!

JOHN, you cut through the BS of the defense, good closing arguments, you were the absolute fit person to end the prosecution's part. You laid the facts and the Truth out in front of the jury, took all the ingredients and put them together in one firm edible meal. You cut out the crap. Smokescreen machine overruled 👊🏼. He was really real, such a contrast to Alex Murdaugh character. I love how he added the story in about his mother giving him the Velvatine Rabbit as he headed off to college, and her note to always be real. I think his closing was incredible, riveting.

Poor Bubba - he saw everything that night. And he knows the truth. And Paul caught his dad in a lie from beyond the grave. On the Snapchat - they seem so vibrant, alive and happy. Wow! I feel bad for his wife and son. They didn't know what hit them.

It all happened so fast..from what I heard in testimony..Its so hard to believe a man could do this to his family.

They did know though. Paul survived the first shot, and walked to the doorway, where he was shot the second time. Maggie ran toward the feed room when she heard the shots (remember we heard about her sandal footprints?). She would’ve seen her son lying there with the back of his head blown off, and then she turned and ran when he raised another gun. She saw the shooter. She ran from him, and he gunned her down, eventually.
