Bone marrow transplants are very painful but very safe procedures. There are some risks but it’s nothing like a kidney transplant where you’re life span is shortened. The challenging thing is finding a donor. It is very very rare to find a donor who isn’t your sibling and few people register because of how painful the procedure is and a lack of public awareness. They were so lucky he signed up because they probably wouldn’t have found anyone else. Good on this guy. I’m absolutely sure saving her life must have been more than enough reward for him. I’m sure he feels speechless that Ali and Nivia would go out of his way to do this for him for what he must have felt was a very unimportant day in his life in comparison to the day of the person receiving the marrow. As a reward he was given a guided tour of Anfield by their goalkeeper and invited to a VIP experience for one of their matches. At the end he encourages others to consider donating.
