I know this wasn't touched on a ton during the analysis but Maru had so many CCs for his eco at home. Its insane how good he is at this specific map, its almost like it was made for him. The other thing that wasn't touched on either is the sheer aggression Maru put out the entire game. There was maybe 2 time Raynor hit Maru at his bases, a small ling run by and corruptors nuking the BCs. Mind you im not as good as you, but as someone from lower skill levels, these tips could add up nicely.

I am returning to SC2 after not having played since Wings of Liberty. I remember always playing mech TvZ, but now Swarm Hosts poop on me. I feel like I need to spend more time outside of the game learning stuff to catch up rather than actual playtime practicing mechanics

I know I'll never be as good as these guys. But What I know is that Helion-Cyclone is easy to mess up without good control. Vikings are underrated, they can harass mineral lines and do not require tech labs.

Great analysis. Terran Mech is always a treat to watch (It's why I enjoyed Beasty's playstyle) since I feel like that encompasses strategy and tactics moreso than technical mechanics of splitting bio for 30 minutes until your wrist explodes (Which is also fun to watch). Keep up the good work!

I reckon strictly only one Thor only with a medivac. Jett them in for surrounds. And save your jump with a Bc, for surrounds, to aid your escape path. The reason for the Thor is, you can get them in the early game, and they rarely get picked off, if you use your medivac right. And you can get a ton of value with them at this stage cos you can just take them back and repair them. Helps you max out quicker I reckon.

@Axel Ave It's hard to change habit, and that's too much cost. You're already trying to keep the medivac from dying to corrupted as well as keeping track of the thor's health. And that's 400/300 resource total for 1 thor and a medivac, and another 400/300 for BC. Not to mention you have to get another starport to get both BC and Medivac out on time. Simply too much resources for a proper army I reckon.

I'm assuming thors are unused because they're too slow because I always thought they were a major peice of mech. Also are widow mines and liberators unviable with mech?

Thors are slow and they just get picked off for free by abducts and neural parasite, besides that they get absolutely wrecked by blinding clouds and ravager biles aswell

Weirdly I do much better with mech than with bio in tvz >.> I do a build where I go single or double bc into hellbat/thor or hellbat/tank. Most d2 zergs end doing some mistake like going ling bane vs an army with 20 hellbats or building 6+ corruptors to deal with 2 bcs causing them to be slaughtered b my ground army. About the swarmhost thing it's pretty rare that they try it at my rank but blue flame hellbats tend to be very effective at minimizing losses, and you can usually punish the zerg a lot after clearing a locust wave.

I find it to be very stylistic, some players simply don't know how to play against mech and it can feel unstoppable. At top level though it usually looks quite weak. Building 6+ corruptors to deal with 2 bcs is not too much at all and the zerg should definitely be at a lead here unless you do a lot of damage, as for the swarmhosts you can't really minimize damage with blueflame hellbats because they land the locusts on your tanks and you will usually lose at least 2 or 3 tanks for each wave, accompanied by ravager biles so you cant actually push forward. The game is definitely different at every MMR though so whatever works for you, keep doing it :)

Yep one of the worst units you can make in the lategame! Biggest reason is the infestor, fungal means you cant teleport > its a dead bc and neural means the bc belongs to the zerg now. Besides that the BC doesnt have particularly good dps so even without infestors its really not that great.

Terran Bio was always too strong. Terran should do best with mech being protected by bio, as they are shown to be in all the cutscenes... But currently because stimpacks and medivacs are so effective for far less effort, it's actually easier by far to just make stimpack bio-balls that can be quickly and easily replaced. Siege tanks have such short range they will often only get off one or two shots before being destroyed they cost more minerals, more gas require more in the tech tree and they simply get out performed by medivacs and marines... in Broodwar the siege tanks could literally attack you from off screen beyond visual range. Mech just takes too much effort and too many resources.

Turrets, widow mines and getting thors out asap. BC or viking defending would be good too, if you teleport your BC across vs fast mutas you'll probably lose though

That was not Maru or mech as good as Reynors job was bad. That was bad for Reynor cuz, basically, that slept off hellion harasses make whole game. Maru killed a TON of drones and Zerg was not able to snowball as it do vs mech 99 times of 100. Imagine that hellion\BC harasses was totally caught by lings oaches\queens - whole game for Maru will fall a part: lings laying around whole map denying bases and killing SCVs, creep goes out of control making any of hellions harasses attempts or any moveouts totally seen from a mile and so more...
