I think She-ra's transformation sequence is a work of art by itself, and how much is constrasts to her brother. He-Man's transformation is almost instantaneous with the big flash of light and explosion of power, while She-ra's transformation is slower but more graceful with the energy sparks raining down from the tip of her sword and transforming her as they flow down her body.

Agreed...but an error in production is still an error! :) - Castle Grayskull without a jaw-bridge would be a somewhat easy target for the villains of Eternia (and Etheria)...:)

I can't believe i've never noticed that. I always noticed the season 2 he-man credits having an animation cell jaw bridge instead of the painted background one. As for She-Ra's transformation, i thought before watching you were going to uncover the reason for the dark smoke like substance that emanates down from Adora's sword. I've always thought it was covering something up for some reason. It seems at odds with all the bright lightning and sparkle energy effects.

The smoke is there just to make it kind of look a little mysterious! :) - At some point, I'll make a video showcasing the original idea for She-Ra's transformation sequence...:)

Mostly because I could never get over the "blob of darkness" that seemingly creeped up behind Adora as she turned into She-Ra.

Well, the EFX would've been re-shot, but the same...it's just that one has a missing jaw-bridge, and the other does not! :)

I thought the costly error was for Mattel to let Filmation do all the She-ra development and now only NBC can produce shows and movies without the need to have a He-Man and Mattel cannot make toys on She-ra unless they make an agreement with Comcast.

I agree. It was dumb how Mattel advertently or inadvertently made it so He-Man and She-Ra’s character rights are split up. Makes it difficult to have them together again in media besides comic books occasionally.

But Mattel has made MORE money from the brands being split, as it has forced licensees to buy the rights individually for Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power (Mattel make a LOT of money from She-Ra) - So, that's not a "costly error" for Mattel, but rather one that has continued to yield great profit! :) Naturally, I think the separating of the licenses was ridiculous...but that had nothing to do with Filmation's co-creation of She-Ra and the cast...you could probably attribute the separation to Westinghouse/Group W and later Hallmark...

Oh well, at least the the painting, jawbridge or not, is clear and fully painted. It'd have been odd if it was solid white, or just with a few paint streaks or something! One error that stood out to me in She-Ra was in "For Want of a Horse." When She-Ra bashes the Horde Troopers' heads together, the camera reveals where the cel of her arms cuts off. This seems to happen more on older cartoons when viewed in the digital age. It probably wasn't seen back on a CTR telly in mid-80s!

It's funny...on the original broadcast master, that shot you speak of (as well as numerous shots in that episode) was framed as intended - Then, when Hallmark remastered the series, they must've screwed up, and the result was the reframing of much of the episode...leading to the edges of the cels and backgrounds being visible! :(
