I can't believe I'm telling you this...but I confess, my cooking has come a LONG way over the years. We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary this week and I finally served him that home-cooked from scratch meal I envisioned all those years ago. He said he felt sorry for me, that I couldn't even cook spaghetti!
If the way to the heart is via the stomach...then I must have taken a detour. I was sure he would never call me again after he ate my cooking! But 43 years later, he's still coming to the table and smiling after he eats..LOL!
This week, I venture into the kitchen to try my hand at homemade pasta with freshly milled flour. I used organic Khorasan wheat berries ground in my Nutrimill Classic grinder. I followed the recipe in Sue Becker's book for Kamut Pasta (same thing). I didn't sift the flour (neither did Sue) and it turned out delicious!
I made the dough in my food processor which makes it easier IMHO. Use the pulse feature on your machine and have fun!
I learned what NOT to do and had fun in the process, just wish I had more hands! I always learn something when I experiment with new dishes and share my "rookie mistakes" with you. I'm no expert that's for sure! But I have fun and I want to encourage you to try it too.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! Thanks for watching and may all your bakes be blessed!
