well the UFC only pays fighters like 18% of revenue unlike boxing which pays a significantly higher portion of revenue to fighters. the other major sports in the US pay about 50% of revenue to athletes. all that said, they won't pay him that much more even though they can definitely afford it. don't believe the bs dana spews about fighter pay. yes they pay more than other organizations, but they have a market monopoly where they make like 90%+ of the entire market revenue. they can pay john wilder money if they want, but they don't want to.

Ngannou left without signing the contract, he never blamed Jones for that on the Jaxxon podcast. It was the UFC that tried to force him into a shady contract where he would earn less money in future fights if he lost against Jones, so he exited. The Stipe fight had already been announced and signed before Aspinall was even on the radar. There is no interim champion because Jones returned and honoured a pre-existing contract, and is currently in negotiations for the Aspinall fight in 2025, according to the latter, so where does this myth about Jones being scared comes from? He holds all the cards, of-course he will milk it for a bigger payday. After a 16 year long career in the UFC, he earned the privilege to do so.

What I often hear in combat sports is, "Oh, he should give him a chance." Combat sports are so weird in this regard. I think they're the only type of sport where it's so hard for the best to compete against the best. For example, if you watch football, when someone wins the Champions League or the World Cup, you know they're the best - no questions asked. But in combat sports, fighters can duck their toughest opposition or be fed favorable matchups. In my opinion, a fighter shouldn't have any say in who their next opponent is. If they refuse to fight, they should be stripped of the belt. There should be a clear-cut system in place to determine contenders, where the champion always fights the number-one contender. There should be no "legacy fights," no ducking, and no catering to a fighter's preferences. If a fighter fails to make weight, the fight should always be called off - no exceptions. The matchmaking in commercially successful professional combat sports is completely different from every other sport, and I think this makes it far worse to watch.

"He look good"(Stipe) No he didn't brother. He was slow as if underwater the whole match. I know he took rain of elbows in 1st but he looked slow even before that. The Jones v Rua fight only came around because Rashad Evans got injured in the lead-up. Evans was originally listed to fight Rua. Can't use the narrative that Rua didn't need Jones as a similarity as to Jones and Aspinall because Jones was a fill in for the Rua fight. That happens alot in the UFC. I think that Dana wanted Jones to beat Stipe because Ngannou beat Stipe (HW Goat) and now Ngannou is in PFL. Jones should have fought Tom in the last fight before he is too old. Everybody knows it and they made an exception and let him fight the guy who hasn't won in years and looked awful in his last performance at 39. Which is fine, he's the goat and gets the option, but they shouldn't have let him keep the belt
