It’s wild because this is only half of it. Reinhardt is Just the Protagonist from the empire’s perspective. Yang is the Protagonist from the Alliance perspective. And we haven’t even gotten to the Fezzan. This show is a masterpiece as it references real world history through battles and is a commentary on the flaws of different systems.

Anime is "Legends Of the Galactic Heroes: The New Thesis" or "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These" The anime is still ongoing, this series is a remake of the original LOGH from the 1980's and was considered classic anime. It use to be on top 5 best anime all time but now still in top 10. Honestly its similar to Star Wars but better than the Star Wars Sequel 100%.

We have full metal alchemist, soul eater, one punch man (s2), nanatsu no taizai (s2 upward), etc. Haven't not read the manga though I thought the anime for this series was well done. A little bit slow (too be expected for a war series) but when it got going I was always on the edge of my seat. They did the Kircheis scn very well as well imo

The previous series of the 90s(maybe late 80s ) was pretty and the design of the characters were unique for everyone, gergais was so handsome and his fluffy hair was the best of him ,the galaxy and tools ,space ships are fantastic in this one but like the characters are so off to me ,,especially my fav .if you want watch the old series it has the complete story .

You got a probelm with loyal soldiers ignoring every instinct of common sense and self-preservation and following their commanding officer's order, huh? There an issue with a noble trained in military tactics no-doubt from birth falling for a feint where the enemy immediately runs away only to turn around and shoot his own fleet in the face in the most telegraphed ambush to ever be sprung? Aniplot, Reinhard might be the new dictator of the Empire, but the true power is Overstein. Reinhard talks like he knows everything, but honestly he is the biggest , shiniest fool of them all since he can't seem to see he is being played like a fiddle by Overstein. Both of Reinhard's objectives are failures. He doesn't save his sister by his own hands. It is the Emperor's death that frees her. He doesn't overthrow the violent and implusive policies of nobility. He merely kicked off one old man and replaced them with himself. He knows letting 2 million people die is a horrible act, but Overstein convinces him to let the attack happen anyway even though saving those 2 million people is just as much as a propaganda coup as letting them die. His best friend dies because Reinhard chooses to put him on equal terms as everyone else, but somehow Overstein's silver tongue can magically change policy to let that happen. Overstein tells the sister of Reinhard's attacks and she withdraws away from him. Anyone could tell that Overstein is isolating Reinhard from everyone but himself. By the end, Reinhard has no one else to listen to. He places his trust in Overstein because supposedly Overstein has a superior, objective logic. But Overstein doesn't have Reinhard's best interests in mind, not at the same benevolent level as say Kircheis or the sister. Overstein's objectives are shown far in the beginning. He merely wants power to fight back against everyone who as ever wronged him. All in all, Reinhard has become an impulsive and arrogant puppet of Overstein.

Tell me you've never seen the whole story without telling me you've never seen the end of the story. Oberstein is far more terrifying than you think. Once you finish the story you will see why. Moreso than anyone after Kircheis and Hildagarde, Oberstein is _loyal_ to Reinhard because Oberstein believes in the better Empire that Reinhard established. His loyalty to that ideal fuels his ruthless determination and his pragmatic approach to power, such that he has no problems risking anyone's life (including his own) to see that the Empire meets that ideal- and how Oberstein's presence in this story concludes makes this clear.

I found Yang much more interesting in the earlier seasons, but Reinhard was actually a more unique figure, especially more so since Season 3. If you continue with the novels, Yang became more of an ideologue than Reinhard would be to the point that I found Yang terribly selfish when making ethical and moral decisions at the expense of other people's lives.
