"Excusez-moi" is the most underrated overtaking maneuver, ever.
@marcschoech13484 жыл бұрын
It's a dick move when you're 50 feet back and expect others to let you pass. If you can over take them, then just pass!
@tissuepaper99624 жыл бұрын
@@marcschoech1348 It's downhill singletrack dude, "just passing" is a sure recipe for disaster. It's better to give up the place to the guy behind you who claims to be faster than to risk a potentially deadly crash. If he is faster, he'll overtake you anyway eventually, and keeping yourself in his way is just a dick move and limits his potential. If he isn't faster, you'll retake your position from him a while later and everything becomes balanced again. You'll see that, later in the run when his brakes are overheating, he willingly gives up a lot of places to avoid being in anybody's way and causing an accident. The same applies in motorsport, sometimes it's better to give up a place than to fiercely defend your position and risk a crash.
@Rexmarek4 жыл бұрын
@@marcschoech1348 No, this way of thinking in social racing sports is wrong when it comes to events like these. It's generally common courtesy to let someone pass that's been on your tail, unless you want to risk an accident. If something bad happens, it's you who would be at fault for pulling the stubborn card and not letting someone pass that's repeatedly requested it and is consistently on your tail.

Really, really brilliant run here. In all disciplines. Congratulations 🎉 The only annoying thing is that you are announcing that you want to overtake in a single lane when you are actually not even close to be able to do it. You should simply wait in these moments and not expect others to slow down so that you could lead. But beside that you are “crazy good”.

@sorrym84215 жыл бұрын
@@SgtDuster If 50 guys in this race didn't fall down, the race could have ended in any sort of way. He could have caught up to them later in the race, he could have placed 50 more spots back, or (since he had to use his breaks quite allot around the people that fell), his breaks maybe wouldn't have gone out and he could have finished allot faster. Does that answer your question?

He said "J'ai plus de frein arriere" it means roughly "I don't have any rear brake anymore". He still had his front brake, but he lost his rear brake. He says it at 40:51, and at other places 'J'ai' means 'I have', 'plus' modifies I have to mean 'I don't have', 'frein' means brake and 'arriere' means 'rear' or 'back'. The 'arriere' is a little hard to hear if you're not a native French speaker because he says it quickly and is out of breath, but it's there. If he had no brake at all I sincerely doubt he would have been able to finish.

When braking most of your weight shifts to the front wheel, thus making the front brake your main break. In the steep parts you have to go for rear brake obviously as front brake will let you go OTB. Of course still very difficult and amazing job by this dude. Most people would have probably ended the race there and then.
