A North Wales man who claimed to have made a record-breaking trip from John O’Groats to Land's End has been cleared of criminal charges.
Thomas Davies, 29, was accused of completing the 837-mile journey in the fastest ever land time of 9 hours and 36 minutes in an Audi A5 S5.
Truro Crown Court heard he waited six months before boasting of his feat - a journey that would usually take 15 hours - on an online blog.

It's been happening for centuries in the UK. For example during murder charges for duels like 95% of the time you'd just get away with murder because judges usually believed in the idea or defending ones honour 😂when slaves would would take their "masters" to court to gain freedom they'd almost always win in the UK which is probably the only ever good case of judges being really biased

In British law, it really does depend on the judge. If you get a judge who drives a Nissan Leaf at 19mph through his village on the way to waitrose for caviar, he will throw the book at you. Maximum everything. But if he has an M5 and regularly v-maxes it on the Autobahn on the way to his villa in the Alps for a skiing trip, he will give you the minimum and ask you what stage tune you've got. The law should not be open to personal opinion. Too many people have done maximum time for growing a bit of herb because they like to relax of an evening, instead of getting smashed to bits off Stella on a Friday night and having a punch up and spending a night in the cells, but the judge hates weed because someone he knew OD'd on heroin and drugs are drugs as far as he's concerned so sends them down for 7 years and the poor punter with no prior ends up sharing a cell with a hardcore albanian drug baron.

The replies tell me people don't really understand that driving a road car on public roads is completely different from driving a professionally prepped (to within an inch of its life) racetrack car... Even if they've done all of that and the driver is a pro, they still can crash. At least on a circuit, the other drivers signed up for the risk. Street racing fans are seeing it as fun, but you wait until someone gets hit by a car and you see someone you care about trapped with a structural part of the car through their body. Or their car is wrapped around a tree and you realise that person is never getting to see their friends or family again. All I read in those comments supporting this, is inexperience, too young to fully comprehend what is happening on a deepr level. They see it going well and assume that's the only possible outcome. You've not lived long enough to see life destroyed by idiots. And before I get attacked for not understand, yes, I have seen people killed racing on track and off it. Skill has fuck all to do with it in those moments. You can't predict what other people will do around you. It takes one person on the road making a different decision from yours to kill you or them or someone else entirely. Nothing cool about risking everyone else for your entertainment. And seeing someone lifeless just because someone was having fun is just disturbing.

@@TealBeal11 jusges arent there to uphold the law, they are there to give a fair sentence even if the law is in conflict with it. One German Judge specialist on "clients" who got fined for using cannabis in which always atleast gave the bare minimum sentence or let them slip. If a law is there to punish citizens unfair, they can always dismiss it. Always remember one thing, the government wants to take freedom, for an easier control. Once your freedom in one point is gone, there is hardly anything people can do, do get it back

@@TealBeal11 depends. Was it open enough with not many other drivers? Then why not. Cars got over the past 50 years way safer, faster and boring. Speedlimits didn't advance. We still drive with the same streetlimits the government forced 50 years ago. No wonder why accidents are high, when you basically are a passenger in your car.

Even driving the speed limit and doing it in 15 hours through 2 countries. You can go from the east coast in America to the west coast. It would take 21 more hours than that, and you never leave American soil. That's pretty badass.

I can't say for sure, but I feel there is some shenanigans going on here. You guys call it "vibe check passed", I call it letting evil in. If you get fined for police detector and court likes to do same decisions as in past, just say "zat iz juzt microweiwe" and boom, you're not guilty. Same goes for fake plates, just say "why zat guy iz allowed to uze fake plades but not me?" and boom, you're not guilty. The whole law system left the chat. And biased judge as a final blow. And he's making problems for us, because now Thomas is protected by laws against double jeopardy.

if he didn't activate a single camera, he better be damn aware of his surroundings. He and all professional drivers who know what they are doing shouldn't have speed limits. Look at germany, they don't have any more accidents than the US, and a lot of their roads don't have speed limits. It just another way the government can make more money.
