I think it's time that the actual courtyard and the area immediately in front of Horse Guards is made clear of all tourists and only small, supervised groups are permitted inside during proscribed hours. It really is an indignity for professional soldiers to be subjected to this constant harassment by members of the public. At the very least "guardians" - like at Windsor Castle should be around to make sure that visitors keep their distance and treat the Sentries with proper respect. At the moment it just looks like a "circus".

I've wondered why they don't do that. It's sad that the guards have to tolerate this, and it's harder for them to pinpoint threats, because of the gaggle of people all around them like this.

Why do you think they are dressed in their 19th century ceremonial dress rather than the usual fatigues? Because it is MEANT for the tourists and visitors! There is nothing for them to guard at this location, other than The Horseguards museum. Their barracks is miles away, other than a place behind two wooden gates here, only used as a resting place for this duty. Any soldier is properly briefed about people wanting pics taken next to a man or woman wearing this garb, and not to be too aggressive about it. They are serving soldiers, not easily offended kids.

@@kpopfan674 I'm so thankful that I grew up with the military. My dad was a soldier in the army. He taught us to have respect for all military branches weather they be enemy or alli. Because despite politics they give up a lot more to protect their country. Oh and by the way, every country have uniforms that are for ceremonial/formal use. And none of them are practical. And those swords are very real and can be used as a weapon. I wonder if they were allowed to use those swords to stick a few rude people in the backside people might start to see that they are very real.

Look at him! Just look at him, stood there unflinchingly in all his magnificence. His adoring fans gazing upon him, as if he were some sort of god, and that concept wouldn't be far from the truth. As they stand there in awe, next to him, taking in the electricity and manly muskiness emanating from his every pore, his sinews like guitar strings, knowing little pain or fatigue, his fans can't help but wonder, why it is that he chooses to do what he does. It is not for respect or often the lack of. But it is for duty to his country, his Queen, or King, and for the fraternity and cameraderie and brotherhood that is seldom to be found in any other theatre. Such is his pride in his chosen brotherhood, and the acceptance he feels from his brothers in arms. And the uniform, that awe inspiring uniform that he wears with such pride and dedication. THESE things are what sets this Man apart, and helps him to grow, understanding truly, what it is to be a MAN. Awesome!

Honestly, I don't think it he got angry at all, and was polite to let them finish their selfie since they took it and put their phone away before he left, otherwise he wouldn't have left his post but instead just given the order "stand back". I think he just moved to a different area for a different reason and simply waited for the guys to take their picture. They weren't disrespectful at all, and it's a usual expectation that visitors will take photos with them as long as they aren't being disruptive. Being military myself, I don't find being disrespected or treated as an object for someone wanting to take a picture with me. Those with the loudest complaints most likely never served a day in any Armed Forces. It's not like they were being goofballs trying to make him laugh, obstructing his view, getting too close, or touching him

Totally agree these men are Warriors. Have seen action. The disrespect should be noted. The best thing is to have a specific area for photos but not the crowds as we see

People just walked up to him like he was supposed to be there just to take pictures with him. They have no respect for this guard. It’s just the audacity of people.

I don't hear or see one person say Thank You to the guards. Why are people so rude and clueless. The young people laughing and being disrespectful is awful. Where are the adults and the education about who and why the Royal Guards are there? These children could be learning something instead of acting like rude brats. Sad, no adults around to give a crap about these young people.
