I think it's time that the actual courtyard and the area immediately in front of Horse Guards is made clear of all tourists and only small, supervised groups are permitted inside during proscribed hours. It really is an indignity for professional soldiers to be subjected to this constant harassment by members of the public. At the very least "guardians" - like at Windsor Castle should be around to make sure that visitors keep their distance and treat the Sentries with proper respect. At the moment it just looks like a "circus".

Why do you think they are dressed in their 19th century ceremonial dress rather than the usual fatigues? Because it is MEANT for the tourists and visitors! There is nothing for them to guard at this location, other than The Horseguards museum. Their barracks is miles away, other than a place behind two wooden gates here, only used as a resting place for this duty. Any soldier is properly briefed about people wanting pics taken next to a man or woman wearing this garb, and not to be too aggressive about it. They are serving soldiers, not easily offended kids.

Honestly, I don't think it he got angry at all, and was polite to let them finish their selfie since they took it and put their phone away before he left, otherwise he wouldn't have left his post but instead just given the order "stand back". I think he just moved to a different area for a different reason and simply waited for the guys to take their picture. They weren't disrespectful at all, and it's a usual expectation that visitors will take photos with them as long as they aren't being disruptive. Being military myself, I don't find being disrespected or treated as an object for someone wanting to take a picture with me. Those with the loudest complaints most likely never served a day in any Armed Forces. It's not like they were being goofballs trying to make him laugh, obstructing his view, getting too close, or touching him
