They're all scam artists. None of them are making money "writing" (I write for a living, and while I make a comfortable living, i'm nowhere near $1 million), they're all making money from selling their scam "courses" to people who are gullible.
@MM-uv3vb3 ай бұрын
No more course sellers please, since the majority of them are scammers or simply not worth it. Anyone that makes more money from their course than the actual skill they teach (like the person in this video) becomes sus. There are a few exceptions of course, but in general this can be applied to many course sellers (such as all the fake traders making more money from trading courses than trading) @@starterstory

100%. Sick of seeing course sellers. Most of them are borderline frauds. Their product ('courses') never usually work and they sell a dream. The crazy part is none of them have made their money with the things they preach, they make it by selling courses. But I have to give it to them that its a good funnel marketing lesson for all of us.
@bobpage65973 ай бұрын
Every single one of his businesses is selling courses basically. Its worked fine for him, but its a market that is gradually becoming more and more saturated, people are just selling more of the same and won't be able to replicate his success. Its the same with all the self help stuff - if you're in the right place and right time when you start out, kudos to you. I like success stories like this, but I'm also not fooled. Self help also isn't really the same - if you need to pay someone to 'tell' you how to improve your life, then there's little hope for you if you can't figure that out yourself.
@starterstory3 ай бұрын
I can see where you're coming from, but digital education and courses is a legit business model. This is just my 2 cents: The US education industry is $1.41 trillion... TRILLION!! People pay $200K+ for college degrees. Masterclass is a billion dollar company. Completely understand if you don't like that business model, but judging one business model over another is a dangerous mindset. The purpose of a business is to solve problems, so if his solution does that well and people happily pay for it, then that's actually a sign of a great business (IMO). This guy's legit and has some cool business models and was upfront about the businesses he built. You don't have to buy his stuff, but there's a ton of stuff to learn from him.
@bobpage65973 ай бұрын
@@starterstory I'm not saying he's not legit. I'm saying that longterm, for many other people......THIS is not a viable approach. The market is saturated with such people, and as it becomes saturated, it becomes harder to make money. That's just basic economics. When you then have people selling much of the same thing, it just becomes difficult to make money. There might be a few people it works for, Dan Koe, Rob Dial ($5 mill a year he makes) and the likes - but they were right place right time, there wasn't really anyone like them before and they've succeeded greatly in establishing themselves. Good for them, well done absolutely. For most people, its not going to pan out and make them millions.
@kevf10293 ай бұрын
@@bobpage6597 so if there are too many people doing the same thing = this thing is not viable? By that logic, all products are saturated. I'd actually argue otherwise. I understand that "selling courses" may have a negative connotation for some people, but it is a proven market that works. Only the winners survive in any market condition, and Dick definitely has a proven business model that works seeing from the evidence
@starterstory3 ай бұрын
@@bobpage6597 Personally I think you're wrong. It is not saturated, actually the opposite IMO. It is only the veryyyyyy beginning for creator based businesses like the ones you mentioned. And I actually think it's an excellent business to be building right now. No it is not an easy business and building an audience takes time, but it's def not saturated as profit margins on these businesses are eye poppingly good. But I respect your opinion tho - we'll see in 3-5 years time :)

Yep. I've been a full-time online writer for over 20 years and still don't make $100,000 a year, and I own 5 websites and do freelance work. There is little money in writing nowadays (although AI so far is not the threat people said it would be, as most AI still can't churn out a decent article that isn't obviously AI-written), which is why everyone is calling themselves a "writer" and then selling fake courses to gullible people instead.

Your comments seem to be following a trend: we, your audience, are getting over the psuedo ponzi scheme of 'i make money by helping others make money' starter stories. If your numbers keep going up by covering this niche then great. Get that bread. But as a fan that thinks he sees what you're trying to do, you really need to start mixing up your content with Starter Stories of people who DON'T make courses helping others how to make money. Like if you took all these courpreneurs, put them in a room, and said come up with a product guess what it would be? A course on how to make money (albeit a very good course). You've covered an author that wrote a book. Those cold blanket guys. What if they were locked in a room with an AI artist, a landscaping company business owner, a speakeasy owner, and a survival KZbinr who all have their own successful Starter Stories? WHO KNOWS what they would come up with! And that's my point. This channel is becoming less and less a beacon on ENTREPRENEUR Starter Stories and more and more a hub for COURSEPRENEUR Starter Stories. Maybe change your mission statement to 'hey make a ton of bread selling how to make money courses THEN do what you really want now that you're rich'. There are just so many other business types other than 'how to help other people make money by selling courses on how to make money'.
@viveknayak15243 ай бұрын
Exactly, no one does real business nowadays. It's just that these kind of cheap course content have high demand in the market as the people are uneducated. And these COURPRENEURS who know some basic economics are taking advantage of that demand. And they call it real business😂.

However...from what I heard: DB did...leave his job...after starting to write online from scratch....and over the course of many years has built some successful companies. Now...the headline is a tad inaccurate. I'll suggest that a key takeaway is to learn a little something that "you" can add to what you do (make sure "you" are DOING something). ☮
