He raised her up. Homily for the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

In chapter 1 of his gospel Mark has sketched out for us the day that inaugurated Jesus’ ministry. He thereby gives us an insight into the rhythm of that ministry: the time with others, and the time alone. It is a day of healing, preaching, teaching and casting out demons, as well as a time of prayer in solitude. This is the vanguard of a wider campaign to loosen the grip of Satan and reclaim human lives for the rule of God.
