This is a nightmare of mine. My son's school is two buses away each way and would take me one and half hours to get there or pay a fortune in taxi fares. It cost my friend thirty pounds in taxi fares to collect her child when they were sick. This is also why I make sure my son is recovered from any illness as can't just collect him quickly. You have such good insight with Andy and as parents we are in tune with our autistic children even though I have often had teachers disagree with me over what they think the problem is

+June Ingram yeah, you have to really know them well in these situations - I wouldn’t expect them to figure out he needed the ball putting away, but at the same time it seemed so obvious to me once I got there

June Ingram your the mother, you know your child best. We can judge your parenting skills all we want but we'll never truly understand until we're in your shoes. My mother struggled all the time trying to explain my needs to my teachers and some of them thought she was crazy and far too overprotective but I've turned out just fine. I have a job and I've been working there for almost 3 years now and I've been rewarded with two raises and constantly get compliments from happy customers and even coworkers. I'm very respectful and polite to everyone whether I like them or not. In fact I think my mother might be the most brilliant parent I have ever met and a lot of parents could benefit from hearing about her experiences and struggles with raising a child with ADHD and Tourettes syndrome among other things. I might seem like a "normal" adult on the outside but I've come a long ways from the shy, insecure and misunderstood child I used to be and continue to struggle with my internal disabilities. I love my mom so much for all she's done for me over the years. No matter how hard times may get with your kids, just remember to be patient and show them love. It's hard for them too but it will all be worth it in the end.

You got yourself a new subscriber! I love to see how autism can be since I'm studying to become a assistant nurse/caretaker and I'd love to work with kids and teenagers one day. Autism can be so hard to understand but it can be so wonderful at the same time (at least for me as a viewer). You guys do a great job taking care of Andy and it's inspiring and I think I can learn a lot from you guys :) Keep it up and thanks for sharing that part of your lives!

It is pretty obvious that the school do not understand Andy at all. Books do not tell you about how to respond on individuals. Experience and some effort, which takes time, to get to know the kid, does! I think it is kind of weird for me saying this, while these teachers had their education to guide and teach Autistic children.... Great Vlog! Keep up the good work, Kevin!
