Why do people keep saying there is help out there. No there isn’t if you are not on pension credit level. People on full pension 11500 or over are not eligible for anything. The minimum wage is 18500 and the benefit cap is 23k yes that’s right 23k in non taxable benefits. Get your head around that. I’m a pensioner like most people Iv worked all my life I’m a single man and Iv brought my granddaughter up on my own from birth she’s 14 now Iv no savings all that went providing for her Iv just been awarded pension credits a grand total of £15 a week the winter fuel allowance will not make any difference to me as we all know that will be eaten up very quickly.. Iv lost 2 stone in weight because I just can’t afford to feed both of us so the majority of my money goes on her .. clothes shoes food etc Iv been all over asking for help but there’s nothing out there for grand parents in a similar situation

I am on key meters yet I got a bill for over £60 due to standing charge on the gas meter over the summer period when I used very little, These energy companies encourage us to limit our gas usage to save money etc & when you do they take it with the other hand, So now it's that time of year when I really need the gas the buggers are taking £5 off every £20 top up I make so over the winter I will be playing catch up, Then add to that the £300 the government have snatched back off me means I am totally screwed, I am now considering opening up my old fire place & to burn anything that will burn & to hell with their net zero climate scam.

We are in the freezing cold this morning, due to a fractured mains gas pipe in the town we live, which has incapacitated central heating boilers throughout our district. This is ongoing as I comment - I wonder for how long? So much for the exorbitant cost of the Standing Charge, let alone the cost of energy itself. Thank goodness we have our wood burning stove in the living room. Pity we don't have a fireplace in every room!!

To compound matters worse, as the interviewee stated, once the installation is complete, it doesn't need any further work because they don't usually go wrong. Also we don't just pay Vat on the service provided we also have to pay it on the standing charge, which amounts to around £330 in my case and is, essentially the energy providers burden, to maintain their supply infrastructure.
