Tells matter in live poker, but not that much. Players analyze the hand, the structure of the board, the opponent’s ranges, the sizing of his bets and their logic. Peter entered with a weak offsuit ace, through an open limp and called an isolation raise from an aggressive player from the small blind. A call in the position as a whole is appropriate, but there are still enough loosers, having hit the top pair on an uncoordinated board, he calls a continuation bet, considering that he may be older than any pocket cards, matches or bluffs, and also has a chance to stand against a flush draw. The call on the turn pot beta is essentially aimed at bluff catching, and semi-bluff with possible flush draws, and a straight draw also appeared.
@АлександрМинкин-и8н3 ай бұрын
river, not a single flush was closed, only a runner straight draw was closed, which was difficult to place in this line, since the opponent with his bets showed only hands like AK\AQ or sets of value, the rest were bluffs. At the same time, he puts an overbet, pretending that he is bluffing rather than winning and that he himself puts Peter on a flush draw that did not close, possibly with a match, which he wants to knock out. Peters, having weighed all these factors, believed exactly what was easier for him to believe, his decision was more emotional than logical, this was evident from how nervous he was.

Among Ace holdings, Peter was ahead of 2, chopping 1, and losing to 10. 2 credible 2 pr. and 2 straights also were allowed to develop by Peter. 4 sets were possible. On the flop 12 credible hands beat Peter. He is only beating 10 pairs. Weak play allowed 2 straights to arrive. Peter's only path to success, realistically, is to catch bluffs by only playing weak. The tough spot was self made.

That is an incredibly narrow perspective to select from thin air. Among the busted flush draws are TQ and my personal faviorite, 9Ts. Peter was beating so few hands, and allowing all the offense to come to him. How does this hand play if Peter ever takes to initiative and raises to the losses he actually had? Flop bet $150, Peter, Raise to $800. Turn bet $200k, Raise to $600. The proper play of A5o with an aggressive player is fold to the hand where you do not have to imagine, MAYBE, you are ahead.

Remember when $500,000- $800,000 pots on HSP was epic? And that was with Gee, Doyle, Laak, and other multi-millionaires (and the players were definitely staked at least 50%) Now you see players calling down $185,000 in a $400,000 pot with A-10 on a Q 10 7 5 6 board. Its funny playing at Brick and morters now... Its common for players hero calling now... As opposed to mid 2000's when top pair, or flush and straight draws are shoving and calling a shove... Top Pair top kicker would shove 100BB in those years... and the speak was "I have top pair, I couldn't go anywhere, cooler... dude your Ac-9c was 3 bet preflop and the board came 9 high, you are definitely up against a hand more often than a bluff... Or this one was very common in tournament play... Guy raises or 3 bets with Kings and an ace flops and they Insta-jam 70bb into a 40bb pot, get called by A-10 and bitch about the player calling with A-10 and then thinking its a bad beat... The funniest thing about poker then is when a guy raised $30 pre with a good hand, gets called by 3 players, donks $100 on flop, $250 on turn, and last $400 on a river bluff A-Q into K-10 2 pair and then bitches about what an idiot the guy is for calling $30 pre with K-10 off... Dude you punted $750 into a caller on a king high board and an old man calling you down.

I will answer. Only 2 Ace holdings. 8 pairs. Among spade busts are J8, 9T, TQ, and KJ. All those win. From what I see in the comments, only you and I would have tossed an A5o preflop. Peter spent $800k to MAYBE get Keating, when poker offers 3-5 hands an hour were you KNOW you are ahead. Then there is strategy. Decide on the budget, and RAISE the flop from $150k to $800k, and see if you catch Keating while you are ahead. or. Follow blindly someone who knows exactly where you are, and what is going on. Perhaps you will agree, Peter played to lose the maximum.

List the hands Keating can have and see if your analysis leads you to think Peter played well. When he was winning he was playing like a loser. When he was behind he put in 70% of his losses.
