Ok so this is the story line I’ve thought of. For years, Waluigi has been requested. He’s seen that every time when they ask for characters or see who people want. And each time, they pick someone else. Eventually, Waluigi snaps and begins targeting the characters chosen and has the intention of taking their fighter spot. No matter the cost. But each time, he arrives too late. Only to be held back long enough by their friends to allow the gateway to close, leaving Waluigi stuck without his recognition. Joker, Hero, Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, BYLETH, Min Min, Steve, Sephiroth, Pyra & Mythra, and even Kazuya. But this time was different. Waluigi knew exactly who was next to join the pantheon. Sora. Mickey had already planned for him to attack soon but still didn’t really understand why he was such a threat. Being the reason he sent Donald and Goofy to intercept him. Even they were pretty confident such a weird man in a purple suit couldn’t take them down. But were they ever so wrong. Arriving just with enough time to stop Sora’s entrance, Waluigi sees only one figure standing in his way. Mickey. He’s been trying to get in this position for what felt like centuries. Now, only one final opponent stands in his way. He charges up what ever power he has left in his last ditch attempt to join his brother and finally receive his recognition. Then he charges Mickey….. Long story short, Waluigi isn’t in smash

As it turns out, Disney had _zero_ qualms with Sora being included; They gave Nintendo the greenlight. They likely knew what they were in for in this weird timeline where Waluigi is god tier. I am referencing the fact that most Smash Sora memes represent Mickey as a greedy, power hungry, controlling, narcissistic face of Disney who only wants more power and rubs off as a jerk. This animation however portrays him as a kind person who went out of his way to help Sora get in Smash. He never assassinated anyone. Thing is, I definitely think Waluigi was robbed. But not by Sora. Waluigi was never going to be the final character. A lot (not all) of his supporters are more interested in the meme than in actually getting him in the game, and there are some valid reasons that people would be upset for him to be given a spot. (He’s not actually that important in his home franchise, so him getting a spot over a new series being represented could be frustrating.) With that said, I think he should have taken Piranha Plant’s spot. Literally nobody was asking for it, nobody expected it, because it isn’t even a character. It’s a stage hazard. It has no personality, lines, and has never been treated like a character in ANY Mario game, which makes it even lower on the totem pole than Waluigi.
