Sometimes I think the writers just want to communicate a message so they just pick whichever character to express it. Cameron's husband died so she was probably coming from the perspective of forgive your father before it's too late. They could have easily gave those lines to Foreman or House and it would have fit their characters depending on the delivery.

Or he could have been feeling too ill to go for a drink and didn't want his son to see him like that. I know what I'm talking about. When you're old and sick, you only have a certain amount of energy and strength in one day. You can only pretend to be all right a certain amount of time. And everybody makes the decision as to whether or not they want to burden their adult children and loved ones with their own terminal diagnosis. In this man's case, he didn't feel he deserved his son's attention as he was dying, because he wasn't there for his son when he was living. Their goodbye was better than I thought it was going to be. That Robert hugged his father will be some small comfort to him later.

Wiktionary claims that it's pronounced exclusively with a 'z' sound in Australia, but that it's pronounced with either an 's' sound or a 'z' sound in the US, and that the same is true in the UK. Therefore, he could have used either one. The only consistent difference between the US and UK pronunciations is in the initial vowel sound. The IPA symbol for the vowel sound used in the US and Australia is 'ɔ', while the vowel sound used in the UK is 'ɒ'. If you don't know how to interpret IPA symbols, I can't help you - neither do I.

I wonder whether one should seize opportunities by giving the other cheek, or avoid everything completely in order to not leave any regrets. This Sunday will be hard, I hope the best for all

TBH, I've never heard an Australian use the season of "autumn" as a time-of-year indicator full-stop. It's such a poorly differentiated season in our climate we don't tend to refer to it as a marker at all. I suppose Chase could have picked up the habit in the US? It does make me think he'd be talking US autumn though, because it's also temporally a pretty meaningless time of year here - who's taking trips in Oz autumn? That's smack in the middle of school/work times. Seems it's more heading into a holiday period for the US, maybe? Script writers were probably not expecting us to put this much analysis into it 😆. But yeah, especially for discussions between people living in different hemispheres at the time, we'd just use the month, lol.
