That's true but you have to understand! It's an entertainment business that is why it was given to Teo, it's to protect the future of boxing, now say if they given that win to Ortiz, no elite fighter is going to want to fight him because it can turn into a lose, lose situation like this fight, we're both fighters lost but when 2 fighters give it there all and put on a show, even the loser will be a winner because of the respect gained, also it will attract more fans to boxing, which equals more money

Everything he said is true but this can hurt boxing in the long run financially! Boxing will lose a lot of casual fans which are essential to big money fights, Teo can still get big money fights and fighters would still want to fight him but if Ortiz would have won it wouldn't be easy for him to get a big money because it can turn into a lose, lose situation because the fight wouldn't be entertaining

This is an interesting take. He's the first person I've heard make the distinction between aggression and effective aggression. Just because Teo was pressing forward doesn't mean he was automatically effective. If we take the 4 ways of scoring a round: effective aggression, clean punches, defense, and ring generalship, and try to decide who did more of those things better (or by a wider margin) in each round, I found it really hard to give Teo more than 2 or 3 rounds.

The problem with Ortiz is that he stopped punching in the second half of the fight. He had a healthy lead with punches landed after the first 6 rounds. At the end, the punches landed were almost even. If Ortiz had kept up the offense in the second half and not just the moving and making Teo miss, he would have given the judges something to think about. I say that because Lopez is the A side and he was the one pressing the action. If there was any doubt each round, the A side would get the benefit of the doubt. Ortiz's job was to convince the judges that he was getting the better of the opponent. He didn't do that when his punch output and punches landed dropped significantly.

Exactly. Hackett is intentionally biased here against Teo and pretending he's not, bashing him and saying other top fighters would beat him badly. Teo would have landed more if Ortiz had engaged, Ortiz did strike back at times when they were close, but he would then run to get away. Ortiz did not show mastery of skills, he primarily showed fear to engage. Ortiz had an advantage in speed and reaction time, which is why Teo could not cut off the ring effectively and land.

Hey man I like Hackett BUT he didn't see that fight fully..Ortiz definitely felt Teos punch in the second round possibly hurt him..Then Ortiz just ran one way then Teo got near him,Ortiz ran the other way..No boxer would be able to cut that ring off,Ortiz literally ran on Ropes the whole time.Teo was way more active and offensive with more power punches

I understand what coach is saying but I disagree that Ortiz won only because of that running style:. I hate that running style in boxing. The score cards were off though

I wanted to hear Greg pointed of view cause I agree with his analysis most of the time. This one time I disagree.. you have to take the belt from the champ (and I wanted ortiz to win) I think they was close in punches thrown and landed but Teo was the aggressor and ortiz didn't want to engage.. now if ortiz would've let his hands go a little more it would've been easy to say he won

💯💯💯 thats my view..n if teo would've attempted to jab Ortiz when he was on the backfoot ..it's would've been more clear..but even without teo using a jab..I still saw the fight jus how u did

Foh! It’s called marquees queensbury rules! Which is effective aggression, defense, clean punches landed, ring generalship! So that mean that’s how you score a damn round you clowns! You get points for all of those aspects of boxing in the rule book. Thag means teo clearly lost because he did none of these well!!! Foh you clown ass dudes
