I would never have expected a song like this to quote TS Eliot and Robert Frost, and reference Flannery O'Connor
@Guitargate3 жыл бұрын
See. You’re on it.
@erenbecomesdovecrying60163 жыл бұрын
You mean a song that falls all over itself to do exactly that? And by the way incorrectly quoted frosts poem.

@@erenbecomesdovecrying6016 Artistic license can be so annoying when you misunderstand a tribute or inspiration for quotation, right?
@erenbecomesdovecrying60163 жыл бұрын
@@NotBenCoultry whatever that’s supposed to mean… Do you mean he’s allowed to quote the poem however he wants to write his song? I agree he’s allowed to write a bad song.
@erenbecomesdovecrying60163 жыл бұрын
@bobbycratchit oh do you really not know that we don’t grammar police anymore? Anyway… You don’t know if I’ve ever written a song, maybe you would like my songs. Wouldn’t matter either way, you don’t have to have written a song to critique one. Are there movies you don’t like? Have you ever made a movie? No, I would not prefer the song to be discordant but you go ahead and beat that straw man to death.

"Grayson Capps" is his name, for anyone else out there who watched this but was not focusing on the name at the time and then had a hard time finding his full name anywhere. Michael, write the persons name your videos are about somewhere in the title or description.. So that its easy to both find and copy and paste to look up more about etc... Otherwise, great video... Loved that you left the phone call in, makes things more real.

Why would you not simply rewind to when Michael started the song? You want him to feed you with a spoon? The vast majority of his videos include both the artist and song in the title, and he often includes a link in the description, too.

I first heard Grayson about 20 years ago in New Orleans. I was there on a work trip and we happened upon a bar called El Matador, which is now gone. Grayson and the Stumpknockers came on and he just blew me away. I've followed his music ever since and had the pleasure of giving him some advice about keeping one of his old Gibson amps going. He is a real talent and a real person. And what Michael says about New Orleans is so true. Go down to the Marigny district any night and visit the music clubs. It is amazing!

In my opinion, Grayson is a national treasure. He's the real deal, and I'm glad to see him lifted up on your channel. I'm lucky to live in Lower Alabama, where I get to see him several times a year. I've seen him sing his songs and tell the stories behind them so many times I can't even count them, and his thing never gets old. If you really follow Grayson, then you're going to get to know his friend Corky Hughes, who weaves the most amazing electric leads into every phrase. You might have to do another video on Corky because he's amazing in his own right. When they play together, it's next level magic. If you're ever in Lower Alabama, do yourself a favor and go see Corky and Grayson at The Frogpond Sunday Social in Silverhill. It just doesn't get any better.

So I basically live in the same part of Alabama as him and have seen him play A LOT and its always a good time especially if you catch him around mardi gras season! Definitely worth the trip to come watch the parades and partake in the festivities. Also He’s playing next Friday the 11th live at 5 in my hometown of Fairhope, AL. I’ll check and see if maybe they are streaming it so you can catch it. You are right about the level of musicianship and creativity at every level (not just in NOLA) in this part of the country. Its a geographic thing from basically Pensacola, Fl to New Orleans. People Can say what they want but the Culture along the Southern Gulf Coast is second to None! Blew My Mind when you said Grayson Capps! I coulld literally wax poetic about this all day but thanks for bringing him to light for everyone else! I feel inspired enough by all the songwriting tips, I think I'm just going to jam something out. Paint my own picture right now! A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and I like dangerous music. What makes a song dangerous? Like anything else, it penetrates you and makes you feel things you probably didn't want to. It's got to be seductive to pull that off. Lastly, can we just give it up for the Bm chord? It's the unsung hero of songwriting. I don't know why but it's special and I recognize it every time I hear it in a song.
