He was the first black gay artist in the disco sector. He had that jazz sector of the Weather Girls (light skinned one was C+C Music Factory sang "Everybody Dance Now"and they both had a hit with "It's raining men". Sylvester lived in San Francisco with all the other homosexual people in California and one of the first black men to pass from HIV.

If you guys really appreciate sebastian, but she really was a talent, you should check out Ten City. Especially the lead singer, Byron stingily . That's the Way Love Is just the home band in particular. Phenomenal. Sylvester was one of his influences.
