Ashley!! It was a wonderful time to be alive and experience this song during the summer of 1979 in real time. I was a teenager in high school during that time. You're correct about "Don't Ask My Neighbor". However I think you're confusing the Emotions with The Jones Girls about the tune "Who Can I Run To?". The Jones Girls were the 3 sisters who had the big hit with that particular song. I can understand the confusion because the two "3" sister groups did sound so much alike. Blessings🙏!

Fun fact:,This song was written by Allee Willis, who died a few years ago. She was Jewish, born/raised in Detroit and attended Mumford High School. She learned how to be song writer by visiting Motown and listening through the widows…. Jerry Bruckheimer also was born in Detroit and attended Mumford High School
