He’s Starting a Farm From Scratch by Partnering with the City (Fowl Play Farm & MissBeeHaven)

Bret heard that his town council was having a meeting, they wanted someone to farm a piece of land they owned. Although he had never farmed before, he had been interested in regenerative farming for a few years and wanted to put his new knowledge to the test. He put his name in the hat and they agreed; Bret would rent the land and build a thriving, working, regenerative farm in the middle of the suburbs. He is now a few years in but is loving the progress he has made, and so is his community!

I can't love this enough. Such a good message in a day and age where government is frowned on, it's refreshing to hear from someone who is working with them. Also, based from a person who is new to agriculture, to have that perspective is important to hear - school of hard knox if you will. We sure are! We visit 3 to 4 farms a week! I love seeing so many different ways and types of farms! What questions do you have about this kind of model?

⁠@@BreakingNewRoots, 3~4 farms a week! I’ve heard of something similar, but with Land Conservancy trusts, interesting that a town is doing it. Very encouraging actually - I’m an aspiring farmer and this is giving me hope (apologies I jump on someone else’s message)

Interesting but doesn't seem like this can be replicable for most people; at least I hope his lease is paid through the land improvements he's made rather than having to pay rent and not getting paid at all.

Its definitely in the infancy stage. Both Bret and city officials are working though processes and how to make it work seamlessly. I believe it can be replicated but someone has to figure it out first.
