The music box is a metaphor for his addiction. The same song over and over. And the killing is a metaphor for eating pills. And the cutting and stabbing is a metaphor for splitting the pills so their effect kicks in quicker. All these songs are allegories. Music Box, Stay Wide Awake, Buffalo Bill, etc. Relapse is a masterpiece.

In the third verse he's talking about realizing that he has a problem and about fighting the addiction trying not to relapse by not taking the sleeping pills and staying awake at night instead. I can break down almost every bar in this song. The Mozart reference is crazy. I'm actually planning to make videos breaking down Eminem's lyrics.

Relapse is probably one of the most underrated hip hop albums of all time. When this album first came out back in 2009 at first, I wasn’t excited specially when I first heard We Made You. Wasn’t feeling the first single. But when 3 A.M. came out I was overly excited for Relapse. I was going to get Relapse regardless even if I never heard 3 A.M. I mean Em was coming back from a long hiatus. Once I heard Relapse I knew it was going to be one of my fav Em albums ever. A horrorcore masterpiece! Felt like I was watching and listening to a biography of a serial killer. I always thought of Relapse as a great concept album. In my top 3 Em albums of all time. And Refill is even better! Really wished Em would have came out with Relapse 2.
