Back in 83, when i was a young paratrooper, I was issued a WW2 era 1911 before boarding a C-141 for Grenada. At some point I fired off a few rounds while on the island, I couldn't hit the side of a barn, it was shot out for sure. I was issued the pistol, 2 mags and a box of ammo. I cut a length of paracord, tied one end to the lanyard and the other to my belt loop, loaded both mags, one in my back pocket and the other in the pistol with chamber empty. Just kept it tucked under my belt for anything up close and personal. that was the last time Ive fired a 1911.

It was you who could not shoot. A friend of mine in the Air Force was qualifying with the Colt .45 and all the Men were saying there guns were wore out and junk. One of the Instructor’s said ok you guys pick out the worst on and He would shoot it. After they decided which one was junk they handed it to him He inserted a Magazine with 5 rounds and shot a clean target into a very small group center mass and every one was amazed at how well it shot. A Colt .45 is a hard gun to learn to shoot well but in someone who knows how they are very accurate and this is why they are used in competition so much.

Nothing wrong with that but shooting different styles, calibers, and different sized guns can have a very positive influence on a persons shooting. BUT YOU have your own range! How lucky is that?! Greg, you just inspired me to go and look in Gunbroker for a hand ejector. There were several - most chambered for 32-20 or other ... and then I saw a really nice 1950's one chambered in 38 Special - excellent bore... in Houston (which is in my home state....) and the price was very reasonable. I figure nobody was looking as it is Christmas night.... and well.. I ordered it. Usually guns on Gunbroker are priced too high... Merry Christmas to me lol lol These are not getting more available and are def not decreasing in value... in fact a new-made version by S&W is much more $$ than this nice original. Thanks for making me look.

My family have been lawmen since 1898. Myself, I retired from a 28 year career in 2003. I carried a 4" S&W mod 28 until the PD went to all autoloader. Still have the 28, and I'll never part with it. It kept me above ground in three shootings. Today, one of my best handguns is a 4" nickel-plated 1922 Colt Army Special, in 38Spl. The action is tight and smooth as can be. Superb accuracy, and I've come to shoot it more than any of my handguns. Plus, it's almost a dead ringer for the Colt my father carried as a mounted office in the late 40's and thru the 50's. He sold the Colt when he left the PD, but I do have the old flap swivel holster he used. Lately, I've been training my nephew the art of old school combat shooting, and I use my old Colt, with my old rig I used as a peace officer. And I do believe that I'm faster with it than my beloved M28. Thanks for letting an old law dog ramble a bit. You've got a great channel, and I enjoy watching you run through your solid no nonsense style. 👍

@@LionquestFitness Yes sir, my nephew is a very squared away man of 50. He lives just about 300 yds down the road from me. We've built his loading bench last month, and I'm teaching him all the fine points of reloading. And when I'm gone, he's getting all my stuff. I know that my old weapons will be well cared for.👍

My dad was a uniformed police officer during the mid 60s' and early early 70s' , and the ol' .38spec. 158gr. rnl round was precisely what they carried . The S&W mod. 10 was the Department's issue revolver , and I remember his looked just like the one in your video . Dad would say that the load they carried wasn't the most powerful but it got the job done when you needed it . Later on when he became a "Plain Clothes" detective and could carry a different gun & caliber if he chose , he still carried a .38 . I think the .38 is still a viable choice for self-defense today , and I routinely carry a 3" S&W mod. 60 as my EDC . My carry load is a +P 158gr.SWCHP lead round , but I'd carry that ol' traditional police load with confidence if I had no other options . It worked then , and it'll work now ! I loved the video , and thank you for having kept our streets safe .

I brought 10-5 Nickel Plate 5" pencil barrel that stamp "Wayne County". The fiish is in excellent shapa and I put original dimond grips back. The price was $390.00 This gun is very accurate. People told me that The revolver is no longer use by law enforcement in the US except 35 years of vetern of the force that still qualify with 158 grains lead round nose that I still have for safe use in the old revolver.

This gun is a good shooter! If it was used by a department and there is some paper stating it, over here it would qualify as "ex issue gun" or "ex ordinanza", as we say, and these handguns have a competition of their own, consisting in one handed slow fire and the snapshots in 3 seconds, like in Olympic centerfire. I suspect your model 10 would do well in this match.

My is a Smith and Wesson 1977 4-inch pencil barrel. If I do my part, I manage to group 2 inches at 25 yards in double action. This revolver is ridiculously smooth in double action and breaks 11 pounds. Great video thank you for cheering. PRPSD retired Sgt. 👉👍👈🖖 Happy Holidays.

In civilian use the .38 is very much a viable weapon, especially out of a 4 inch pistol. Great story about the cop, sometimes shots are met to be either lucky or not.

That’s a funny story and most likely accurate. Reminds me of a story Jeff Cooper wrote in American handgunner years ago . He claimed that trick shooting was often just that when back in leather slap days he would supposedly split a bullet in two on an axe head and bust a balloon on each side with one bullet . But the balloons were really busted by shrapnel and afterwards he would explain to the crowd it was only a trick.But he once accidentally hit the axe edge with his 1911 so he just took a bow .😂

Great story! I sensed the ending pretty much how it turned out lol. Almost no way under that kind of stress could you nor would you attempt to hit that axe! Nice vest, especially for cc. What is it? Can it be bought these days If you had to choose these days between the current model19 and the current model 10 not necessarily for carrying , which would you prefer? Let’s assume the interest of for 38+p only. I’m guessing the 10 is better for wielding/combat. I like how you put it to bed at the end!

I got the vest at Walmart a few years ago. I haven't seen them recently. As a young police officer decades ago, I had a personally owned Model 10 with round grips and a bull barrel. I also had an issued Model 66 (stainless twin of the 19). I found I shot better with the 10 and it was more maneuverable for close quarters and concealment.

For people that dont like the henry revolver. Because of the way it looks. They need to look at the gun that you are holding. I have tried to tell people. The henry revolver looks like the revolvers from the 70s and 80s.

They don't make them like that anymore. The other story he told was of the dead transient they found in a wooded area that had been decomposing for several weeks in the heat. He recalled his Dad kneeling down and digging through the mushy body, no gloves and despite the stench, trying to find some means of identifying the man.
