Do not try this at home. Aiden Pleterski ran a $40 million dollar ponzi scheme, and after getting caught... one of the victims decided to take matters into their own hands.

This video is an opinion and in no way should be construed as statements of fact. Scams, bad business opportunities, and fake gurus are subjective terms that mean different things to different people. I think someone who promises $100K/month for an upfront fee of $2K is a scam. Others would call it a Napoleon Hill pitch.

So should he be beat more, to make sure he's really sorry? Get a grip Edit: alright, fellas, that's enough. You seem to be under the impression that I somehow condone the scammer. I don't. I think he deserves to be punished. I think he should be put in jail and stripped of every penny. But I also don't condone his kidnappers, who, you know, kidnapped and tortured him! Call me crazy, but this isn't right. If we saw fit to beat up (or kill, as some people are saying) anyone who's done wrong we'd have anarchy. How would you feel if this happened to you? What if someone abducted and tortured you or your family? Now, that's not to say you and him are equally guilty, but why should we take it into our own hands? I understand that the legal system isn't working to get this guy put away, but to resort to congratulating these psychopaths? That's too far. Everyone involved here should go to jail and forgotten about.

I would say the fault is more on the government than the justice system. Police can't investigate/arrest guys unless what they commit is actually a crime. Judges, lawyers, and courts have to work within the confines of legislation and the regulatory powers at be. The regulators on this stuff shouldn't be 80-year-olds who don't know what they're talking about, who keep letting this stuff slide without making it a crime. I will say though one major flaw with our justice system that has always existed is the fact that these crypto guys can hire teams of highly skilled lawyers with infinite funds

The logistically difficult part is, from at least a US government perspective, its really difficult to bring legal proceedings with meaningful outcomes against high net worth individuals. This is how Trump, Musk, etc. are sued all the time by different legal entities and it seems like they never get in trouble. They can spend millions upon millinos on legal fees, draw something out, and the government/municipality cannot or rather will not, do that with taxpayer money unless they know they can get a financial result back.... usually. There are exceptions. Basically, they only go after sure things.

Philosophically, there's an argument that some direct retribution isn't immoral here. Laws are more about order than they are about complete moral righteousness. The important reasons not to do this are "stay out of jail" reasons and "a nation of laws falls apart with rampant vigilantism" reasons. Not moral condemnations, but parts of the social contract citizens have with their nation.

I think the problem is that there aren't any laws in place that mention Crypto, so law enforcement can't really do anything about it. It's like a loophole that our governments have been slow to fix. I really hope the legal system steps up and starts SERIOUSLY going after scammers, because if they do their jobs and put big criminals behind bars, everyone will be better off. And if they don't, a lot of people will agree that vigilante justice is better than none. Apparently that means the police have to put in some work anyway to arrest the vigilantes, and the scammers would probably prefer life behind bars to being a loose end that gets tied up.

meehhh, not a chance, scammers predate on dumb people that want to become rich without effort, we can only dream that non-moral people will get caught but thats not what reality says

Horrifying note as an addendum to this, in the past day a crypto scammer named Fernando Algaba was found dismembered in a suitcase.

@@Blisterdude123 Awesome! More of that and maybe the problem will shrink in size. More of these show-offs and scammers need to meet their maker the same way until the rest realize that being a prick on the internet isn't worth it.

If more people went all the way there would be way fewer scammers

This is why we need the justice system to do something instead of just nothing. Like sure with them working undercover with SBF is fine but stuff like this should also be taken care of, otherwise it'll lead to people doing things themselves in crude ways because they're not gonna take it any longer and don't want the scammers to keep getting away with it.

Until the rare smart canine has bark, bite and brains too. He can carry out the threats he put out, and give the fear others would normally try to dismiss or laugh off. This one had rage, and let it out on the "victim" that got no pity.
