Had something Similar happen at a dollar store, was going through a box of comic book 3 packs when a man a little older than me ( I was 56 at the time ) reached right across me to go threw the box I am actively looking through, mind you, there is a rack full of 3 packs a few feet away. I say that to him and also say when I’m done with the box and he is done with the rack , we can switch, I think I’m being pretty nice , his response is to reach into the box again, I then inform him, if he wants to get the shit kicked out of him over comic books , this is the way to make that happen. That is what it took to make him go to the rack and get away from me. I have very little patience for people being rude, I don’t do that to people, I sure as hell won’t let them do it to me. You were way to nice about it.

I was taught the boxout technic from my grandfather at sales. Find something really good you need to go though, position yourself where no one else can get to it. move the box so that no one else can get around you. Your a big guy. Use you body to your advantage.

I think what may have happened was that he looked at them before you were there and walked away to ask the owner the price...He said to you something like, "I was already there." Regardless, he should not have pulled the box out of your hands to claim them. He should have explained to you what had transpired (if that was the situation.)

Let's just say that was the case. Okay he asked about it first but he put it down. There's so many times you go places you ask about something you put it down because you're not going to get it. If he wanted to get it he would have carried it with him or asked the owner to put it off somewhere for him because he was still debating. That doesn't give him the right to take it out of somebody's hand firstly and secondly you say something to the person that's holding it you don't just take it. You can ask about something and put it down that does not belong to you. If you want it keep it with you or you put it down somewhere so that the owner knows that's your pile. So that still doesn't make any sense. And the fact that he wasn't even there first.

I had a lady do thtat to me at an estate sale and I said if you need these that bad take them and she said "I will." So I followed her in another room and grabbed something she was looking at and said this looks like I need this! It ended up being worth a lot of money and she really couldn't argue. I wasn't proud of my self but I was so mad at her for grabbing something out of my hands. I told the estate sale people and they were surprised and apologized for the lady. I also found some other things at the same sale when I was talking to the sellers and they were worth hundreds for only $6 so I think sometimes you get paid back with good when other people do things like this.

Same type of thing happened to me last week as I was holding a tub squishmallows. All of a sudden an older woman stuck her hand in the box I was holding. I had this happen at my own sale. I asked the man to leave, as I saw what he did. My technique when buying, is to pick up a box and walk up to the seller with it to negotiate. It gives you an opportunity to go through it without the jackals swooping in on your deal. I’ve even seen someone get really angry and almost attack the seller because they didn’t see a whole box (59) of N64 games they missed out on for $100.

This has been happening a lot this year, especially with older people. Age or appearance doesn’t matter, everyone with a cellphone is now a pro and is after this stuff and people really get territorial in these situations. That guy had a lot of nerve to do that and maybe you should have said no, I was here first, but I know I might have just done exactly as you did too.
