This was once screened during an anime-from-hell compilation midnight screening at the first or second Anime Central con. There was a native Japanese anime-fan in the room who likened it to a low budget fan-treat and spoke about how it ended up selling reasonably well to it's small but dedicated fanbase. The people who bought this VHS were well aware of how expensive it was to create an anime series. They were also well aware that Kentoushi would never even break into the top 50 best selling monthly manga. Back then, it was an exciting and emotional thing to know that your favorite third-rate manga character ACTUALLY had vinyl paint put to cel acetate (yes, this was a huge freaking deal). Most of us walked out of that screening feeling we had watched something rare and from the heart. This video is like 20-minutes of Ken pointing at a 90 year old former Playboy model and screaming "OMG, Look at you! Your whole body is saggy! You're in a wheelchair! Jesus, you can't even stand! How were you a Playboy model? You don't even qualify as an accidental photo-bomb! Yuck, there's not enough airbrush paint in the world to cover that hideous collection of wrinkles! What do you mean you can't see? I wish I could unsee YOU!" Love your videos. They're comedy gold. But on some level, this video is contributing to an anime community that more and more looks like the movie "Idiocracy." It's like historical and social context is an afterthought. (edit: I'm looking at the rest of the comments. Yikes. Is there like a list of "protected" anime I can give you that you can promise not to send into historical purgatory? You know, just in case you're in the mood to decimate Godmars for example and just didn't happen to know that it was beloved and a big deal to some people at some point in time.)
