Why, in the name of all that's good in the world, are the song lyrics subtitled but not the actual dialogue? And at really crucial parts! My Mandarin is very limited and I can't really keep up with the real subs so half of what is being said is a complete mystery to me. I love these actors, I love this play, I love this version. Just wish that I knew more of what's actually being said rather than scanning for the characters I know and using inference.

I agree... my guess is since we're basically watching "pirated" drama, the translation is not from the official subtitle (the white hard sub in Mandarin) but machine translated from the audio (that's why ML's name is often translated as "promise") 🥲

@20:20 I agree with some of the advice. You should never give up on career for anyone. But not just in case of being betrayed, even if you stay with a loyal person, nobody should depend their whole livelihood on another person (well, there are always exceptions such as underage children and some type of mental or physical disabled people). Because between tomorrow and death/bad fortune, no one knows which will come first. I also agree about not believe in love and promise. They exist, but not absolute. But ofc it's not just men's. There are also bad women and good men out there, just as many bad men and good women exist. So, be careful of the bad ones, ladies and gentlemen.

This was actually a sad drama about the price of adultery. A weak man chooses to show off in front of his childish friends by taking their advice and choosing a mistress. He's so immature that he thinks he can keep the cheating separate from his married life, even though his behavior is so obvious that of course his wife figures out what's going on. She is calm, poised, and very mature in her decision to leave him without a word. Of course he finds out that his adultery has been discovered and goes crazy trying to find her, as if saying, "I'm sorry" will make any difference. It never does. A sad ending for everyone involved. But I was so glad to see a female lead with brains, backbone, and courage! Let's have more of these!
