The two camera ops seeing each other and having to keep their mouths shut... priceless and YIKES that must have been hard. Maybe more tasks that include interacting with other humans that might be able to rat you out... like, "Ask a barista they're favorite drink to make, get a selfie, and leave a nice tip" or "visit a dog park and get a selfie with a doggo"... definitely love the "change an article of clothing" one because that also involves interacting with a human who might rat you out. This is seriously fun to watch and Arun is REALLY good at this. I think Tom's adrenaline gets pumping so much, his logic side sort of short circuits. I think with more practice, he'll do better.

The selfies would be really interesting if they had to send them to each other, too. If you know roughly which direction the other person is, and they just took a photo in a park, there'd be more immediate risk of being caught. “If anyone thinks airtags are good for real time tracking they’re wrong” The concerns people have over them aren’t that they could be used for real time, it’s that they could be used to find where someone lived/worked/frequented/spent a lot of time at. I think the takeaway here is that these challenges heavily favor the person being tracked. The odds that the tracker will be able to not only catch up with, but also actually see and identify their target, before they second guess themselves and move on, seem infintesimal.
@InShortSight2 жыл бұрын
Loading Ready Run did a vaguely similar contest in a way that seemed a bit fairer for the hunters called: chasing our friends with cars, or Carhunt. It worked because there was many targets on foot, two hunters who were able to use cars to travel much faster, and there wasnt lots of different goals sending the hunters mad with second guessing themselves. I could see a combination of the ideas from both videos creating a very exciting competition, but the airtags alone are too iffy for a real time chase. It felt like chance that Tom got even close. The final location was also a pub so Carhunt had that going for it too.
@HighFiveTheHorizon2 жыл бұрын
@@InShortSight For more fairness in this scenario, I think they could just implement an ordering element to the goals. The very specific tasks like the Robin Hood statue could still be a free choice one, but things like shopping for clothes, feed ducks and recite a line of Shakespeare could be a set list of tasks that have to be done in a specific order. So if the tagged person chooses to do those, the chaser has a chance of getting the upper hand at some point

I love this game of tag they've got going on. But it always just felt a bit off whenever they'd remark how difficult live-tracking someone with an AirTag is. I mean, its mostly true, especially if they only have an hour as they've shown. But I always expect Tom to contextualize that with how stalkers could use them to track stationary positions much easier over time (work, home, coffeeshop). It just feels a little too close to downplaying people's fears about stalkers using AirTags. Which has happened a bunch. Enough that you'd think there'd be a mention of it, when the framing is so similar, multiple times a video even. I still enjoy what is essentially grown-up tag though.
@KC9QII Жыл бұрын

I think the problem is that it would be a bit unethical to then share that data in a video
@theglimpse37852 жыл бұрын
Tom did a video a few years ago (I can't find it at the moment) where he actually had a randomly pulled Facebook profile and live on stage correctly guessed a man's location, favorite sports team and occupation from just a glance at the page. Scary to think with all the advances since then how much companies know about you.
@Koushakur2 жыл бұрын
@@theglimpse3785 That sounds like something he'd do for one of his old scripted "this is a bad future"-what-if type of videos where he never acknowledges in the video that is what he's doing

That's a similar premise to "I know what you did five minutes ago", an old talk he did

It would be interesting to see a 'rematch' but using an actual GPS tracker. These are generally more expensive than the airtags, and some either need a sim card or a subscription. But it would be cool to see if those have more precision. Those also have more scary potential because they don't alert your iphone that an airtag is nearby...
@limcheehean2 жыл бұрын
They could just share live location on WhatsApp.
@Summer-xu8qu2 жыл бұрын
But like, what's the point tho? It probably heavily favors the hunter since the gps has live tracking (instead of the 5 min ago ping like Airtag), the hunter would just easily intercept the prey on the road, and the prey wouldn't have a chance to hide since he doesn't know where the hunter is

this could be a game show, it's very watchable. and they could mix it up with different places and tasks

I wonder how many seekers you’d need hunting 1 person for it to swing the favor of the seekers. Obviously, if some shady government types were tracking your air tag, they’d probably send more than one agent. Great vid as always, Tom. Can’t wait to see part 3 with every KZbinr on the face of the earth hunting Mr Beast.
