Not saying that he isn't brave, and hope he didn't die as a result, but I wouldn't have made so many videos advertising my intentions at first. Look at journalists in Vice going into hostile regions...they make it super low key. I really hope it did not come to him being killed for it...but in China as in anywhere else...you can take a stand against tyranny without getting your head chopped off for no reason. He would've served everyone following him much better if he had just gone in low key, documented everything and got out. Another person also went missing after reporting the news of Covid19 in Wuhan. I can’t remember his name, but he was a successful lawyer. He was a lawyer!!! After the outbreak, he started to begin spreading the news online and eventually reached outside of the country. He’s missing. And we also haven’t heard of him ever since. Well, that's because it's not. It's definitely socialism which is the state preceding communism but not communism. By definition communism is a utopia, which is impossible. So until a socialist country truly gives the people the means of production, relinquishes authoritarian control, and the people work for free because they know that their needs *will* be taken care of they'll remain socialist. Communism is amazing on paper but since it's a perfect society it requires that it's citizens are also perfect and we all know humans are many things and not one of them is perfect.

You do need the authoritarian control because communism is not how we naturally want to behave. Once the transition is over, though, they need to give it up to complete the change. That's where our inherent imperfections and selfishness destroys any chance of actually reaching a communist society. The closest the world has ever been to a true communist state was America in WWII. Thankfully, after the war, the government gave up the majority of its new powers otherwise we'd have social credit scores now.

It's a complete abolition of the class system, division of labor, and property. The closest we have gotten to a communist society is some of the early communal societies at the beginning of modernity or Catalonia during the early days of the Spanish civil war, albeit it was short lived as it ended up being squashed by soviet backed communists who opposed the Spanish communists/anarchists as well as the fascists during the civil war.
