The coaching staff made a roster based off wanting to switch every pick and roll and the rest of the world doesn't play poisitonless basketball like the nba does, because they don't have the talent, so the USA team got abuse by size and strength. Team USA roster would be the best defensive team if they were a roster in the NBA even with half of the roster. But against international teams that play an older style of basketball and that play by rules that favor defense team usa couldn't compete.

All of the best players from these countries play on the NBA teams. The NBA teams literally consist of the best players in the world. For the most part, the best players for around the world leave their countries to come play in the NBA. And the other way around. The good college players who aren't good enough to play in the NBA go overseas and play in the best European leagues.

The Miracle on Ice was only possible because they were amateurs, NHL players weren't allowed to participate. If Canada and the US were allowed to send pros, and the soviets were properly drug tested, North America would almost certainly have held the Gold and Silver medals. Russian pros would have put up a good fight, but their pros and amateurs were a lot closer together in quality because their amateurs were state subsidized to focus exclusively on playing hockey (not to mention the insane amount of juicing the soviets did in every sport).

Anyone who thinks NBA Champions are "World Champions" is delusional. If you want to be a world champioin, you need every team in the world to have a chance, even if it is a very small one. In football, any team in Europe could theoritically one day qualify to the UCL and "theoretically" one day win the Club World Cup, even if they have almost no chance at doing it. Also for the people making the "best players play in the NBA" argument, the best players in football play in Europe. In the Guardian's top 100 footballers, less than 10 players play outside of Europe, and they played most of their careers in Europe. Since 2007, only one non-European team won the Club World Cup in 2012, and that year the European team Chelsea was the runner-up, and most teams don't even take the CWC seriously. In World Cup 2022 60% of the players played in Europe and WC winners Argentina only had 2 non European based players. However if you win the Champions leage, you are the Champion of Europe, not "World Champions". Just because you don't have a "Club World Cup" like tournement in basketball doesn't mean you can force the term "World Champions" onto something it is not. The best team in the world is not equal to "world champions", and americans don't understand that for some reason.

You couldn’t have NBA teams playing European teams and have the European players on the NBA team play for their home country and not for their original team because the point is to prove that the NBA is the best so what ended up happening is that the teams in the NBA combined with international players, and played basically the world championship that way. Even if we had our best competition, NBA All-Stars, we would’ve won the World Cup, but this year we have row players and good young players, combined with the fact that these NBA players are on their international teams, and not playing for the US, which represents the NBA lead to us losing. This doesn’t discredit the fact that when international players are on the NBA teams that the team that wins the tournament OK playoffs is considered the world champion.

I do agree with Noah. We take for granted how many players in the NBA are do not share USA nationality on the roster that wins the chip. NBA/MLB/NHL/MLS encourage this.
