My grandmother and mom used to do that. They always hit the sales the day after Christmas and always got a lot of great stuff....they also stocked up on wrapping paper, tape, etc. for the following year.

I buy Christmas and birthday gifts throughout the year!! Especially when winter clothes go on sale at the end of the season… buy, a little bigger size for the next year. Or put it on layaway… then save your credit cards for all the dinners!! I had 4 kids, once a week, I would buy 1 gift.
