Oh dear Joe, where did you go? I'm a Liberal but I'd love it if you were the Conservative Leader again. You'd bring with you your ability to treat friend or foe with dignity and respect, things we never see from today's Conservative Leader. Your intellect and your passion and your decency are greatly missed. Thank you for all you've done for Canada.

As Joe notes - there used to be more cooperation between parties. The loss of the Progressive Conservative party was a huge loss for Canada. The last Progressive Conservative PM elected by Canadians, Brian Mulroney, actually had an impressive environmental record - Canada-U.S. acid rain treaty - created 8 new national parks - brought in the Environmental Protection Act. Mulroney has stated that "climate change is the most serious environmental challenge and time is running out." Today, in the wake of the populist Reform takeover of the Conservative Party, there is absolutely nothing progressive about the party, and they are steering towards the far right. The party is rife with science denial and has an affinity for autocratic rule. That makes Pierre Poilievre totally unfit and unqualified to be PM.
@timhortons2327 ай бұрын
Science denial? Ahh yes, the classic it's not my ideology so it's 'far right'. Nothing about the current CPC is far right, right wing yes. Autocratic rule? Let me guess, freezing the bank accounts of Canadians was also acceptable to you?
@ST-hr4xv7 ай бұрын
Science denial? Well, I would say the parties that reject basic biological realities are guilty of science denial.

Ed Broadbent would have been a great Prime Minister, had his party ever came to power; it's too bad he is gone! Joe Clark's conservative government sold off Petro Canada, which was a crown corporation, that was a huge mistake as the proceeds from sales could have helped to pay down our deficit yearly, and it should have remained Canadian for all time!!!
@joemadden41607 ай бұрын
Broadbent would have destroyed the country.
@KevinSills7 ай бұрын
The same way the Conservatives did each and every time they came to power? They defunded our healthcare system, our schools too, not to mention so many other blunders including defunding our agricultural sector. Ed had alot of great policies that would have made our country thrive, which isn't what the Conservatives did at any time.@@joemadden4160

Rarely has there ever been a leader of any Canadian party who worked harder for the rights of every Canadian, than Ed Broadbent! He absolutely deserves a state funeral! Perhaps he was before your time? I say that, because if you observed him in parliament, questioning the government, you would vividly recall the deep passion he had for Canada.
