Oh, I never knew Glen Campbell covered this song. I vividly remember the emotions this song brought up hearing Richard Harris sing it when I was younger. Great song

Glens was the only version I had heard until adulthood. Covered by so many though. Jimmy Webb is absolutely in the top 5 Songwriters of the whole 1900’s. Maybe number 2 to Bacharach / David. But Webb never co-wrote.

The old Boston Pops Fourth of July shows were always fun to watch. They would have all kinds of guests at it. Arthur Fiedler was a fan favorite.🎉

Wow. I remember that. Honestly. It was an amazing performance. Glen did great things with his voice, and terrific guitar. A real pro who sang from the heart. Great memories never go away. Thank you. Brushed a few tears with this. Glen also did a fantastic job with GUITAR...."Classical Gas".

Glen was one of the greatest Rock and Roll Guitarists of the 60’s, playing on hundreds of great recordings as a session musician, along with supporting vocals. Was a member of of numerous Rock groups as well including Sagittarius, Beach Boys, The Champs, The Fleas, The Trophies, worked heavily with Ricky Nelson and Merle Haggard. Played on sooo many hit songs. He never did Learn to read music. He was just naturally talented and gifted. You should Check out the “Glen Campbell - Best Guitar Solos 1960 - 2000’s” video on KZbin. It’s fantastic!

I see that I am not the only fan of Richard Harris' version. (He was my favorite King Arthur, too!) Back in the day, Glen Campbell was amazing; he was one of my first little girl crushes; I must have been all of 5, lol! He and Tanya Tucker all but killed each other in the 80s, and I was glad to see both of them come out of that turbulent time. Both have left grand music to remember them by, for which I am grateful.

Scott, this was an excellent performance by Glen and the Boston Pops orchestra. Unfortunately, the recording quality was less than optimal. Many people do not know that Glen was a renowned session guitarist who appeared in countless songs and was one of the great vocalists of his time. Superb submission choice and review by Harri.

Hello Dave. I’m sure that with AI technology the sound quality - particularly the guitar solo - could be improved. I hope to see that one day. 😊
@davebzen7952 ай бұрын
@@The5thGen Actually, AI is already here but needs further development with a few scenarios. Audials 2024, with the AI module added as an option, is what I have been testing and using for non-KZbin videos and audio. I say not with KZbin videos and audio because of copyright-related issues. Audials 2024 AI can legally capture and record virtually any streaming service, from Netflix to Spotify. The new AI module will miraculously clean up both audio and/or video. It can't make a sub-par video into HD quality but the improvement is stunning.

Glen does a great job with this great song 👏🏻🥰‼️ There’s another version of the song that’s done by actor/singer Richard Harris. Some people like it like I do, other people don’t. I’m wondering if you’d like it or not. Maybe you could react to it and we’ll see, huh?

His guitar is unfortunately buried in the dense mix here, there’s a great live version from the early 2000’s where he really shines: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3LNh4etr7Fmqcksi=QNFRLMdN4x40sU-y

Love your reactions Harri, but I suppose I’m in the minority here, but to be honest I thought that was one of the Worst performances I’ve ever heard by Glen. Maybe it was just the quality of the audio, (I agree with you about the audio quality) or maybe the over instrumentation that the song really didn’t need. I just thought it was pretty much unlistenable. He was slurring his words, not enunciating properly, and just plain hard to understand him. Sometimes I think that people are just too afraid to be honestly critical. It’s not as if disliking a performance is a personal attack or anything. I guess I thought he was just way Overdoing it. Didn’t seem natural. Seemed “Forced” to me. But hey, I STILL love your channel.
