Watching it right now on BBC Three. I knew from the 2nd act that he was a ghost the entire time. Plus he wore the same clothes all the time and never spoke to anyone only Kate(since she was the one who retrieved his heart the night he was killed in a bike accident in Xmas eve,while she was getting a heart).
