This episode was "six weeks" after Aaron was shot and had 2 surgeries. Grey was making sure he was fully recovered and had to ride with Tim for a bit to make sure he was able to come back to full duty. He also had to see an inhouse psychologist.

For context: this is Aaron's first day back after being shot in the line of duty. His Sargeant is refusing to allow him to return to the street without first seeing the police psychiatrist and being mentally cleared to return to work. Aaron is not being ostracized here. They are having his back by making sure he is taking care of himself. He receives a standing ovation by all the cops in roll call earlier in this same episode for having heroically returned to the job after almost being killed in action. Aaron was initially an outcast as a recruit in the LAPD because he had been acquitted of the murder of his best friend, but it was not proven and many officers thought he was guilty. That is not this scene.

Title is so wrong. Aaron wasn’t “ostracized”. Grey was making sure Thorsen didn’t come back like he vas invincible or unstoppable. This is procedure. They usually hold back people directly involved to get them slowly adjusted back in. Lucy is proof
