When Sarge told Nolan to arrest Cole, it was a powerful moment. It showed how much he’s come to respect and trust Nolan as an officer and how much he cares about those under his command. He knew the guilt Nolan was feeling over Andersen’s death and he knew the only way Nolan would ever be able to get past it is to be the one who brought her killer to justice. Sgt. Grey is a great cop and Nolan, with Grey’s help, will one day be a great cop, himself.

Nolan's face when walking up to arrest him made me think back to when Captain Anderson told Nolan "It is not your job to punish that man for what he did." "Overcoming that impulse will be the hardest thing you will do in this job." You could clearly see in his face, the rage and the hate, he, just like everyone else there, wanted nothing more than to put a bullet in that man and make him pay for what he did, but they knew that wouldn't honor her memory just like Grey said, doing their jobs would. "Because the woman you killed taught us, its not our job to punish you, just to see to it that you are." What a beautiful line.

@@alexiaprettyeyes2283 nathan fillion acts as captain reynolds of the ship Serenity, Firefly class transport ship. he acts as a veteran who led soldiers in the war between the alliance (the government who wanted total military control of everything and everyone) and the independents (the people who didn't want to be controlled). he fought for the independents and they lost the war so he and his crew travel throughout the galaxy looking for jobs, most of them illegal. they transport things to other planets and the show is about their adventures doing that. because there is no government controlling the independents, it's kind of a wild west situation...with space ships. he plays the veteran who doesn't talk about himself much and does everything he can to take care of himself and his crew. he's a very cordial person with a sense of humor until you try to hurt him or his friends or steal from them, then he turns into an unstoppable force. not rambo, just "i'm going to get to my crew and make them safe and i'm not going to hurt anyone unless they try to hurt us and i will stop at nothing to achieve this. and you have his first mate who is basically a soldier for the group and she's married to the ships pilot, who's the best pilot in the universe. then there's the very sweet and loving kaylee who is an intuitive mechanic, and that makes her the best. there's jayne who is in love with guns and shooting people and basically does grunt work. and there's sheppard who is secretly high ranking alliance military turned preacher to make up for all his wrong-doings. and you have simon and his sister river. he's an intelligent doctor, the best. she's a genius psychic who went insane under government control and they are both on the run. and there's anara. she's a prostitute renting a room on the ship and provides help and guidance to the crew when they ask for it. basically a bunch of misfits coming together on accident and helping each other do crimes that don't really hurt anyone and they pull off a robinhood or a rambo every one in a while to help people. do watch at least 3 episodes. and they were aired out of order, so good luck. but there's only 13 of them

I love how the last scene, Nolan is able to think fondly of Andersen, recalling how he embarassed himself when he first met her after Bishop and Lopez misled him. And in a moment of growth, I love how Grey is the one to tell him that it was Andersen who got Nolan the job at Mid-Shire because she believed that his life experience as an older rookie would be valuable to the department. In other words, Andersen believed in Nolan despite him being older than most rookies and the concerns of other higher ups like Grey himself. And it was because of Andersen that Grey would recruit Aaron Thoreson, seeing that like Nolan, the young rookie could bring a valuable skills as a police officer.
@nathanhendrickson790 Жыл бұрын
And grey was right. I knew he was because of what holt told Jake in Brooklyn 99 how Jake getting falsely accused and sent to prison made him a better cop because it put a voice inside him that said, “what if he didn’t do it” thorsen embodies that mindset to a t. He was put through hell for something he didn’t do and lost his best friend, respect from friends and family and 2 years he’ll never get back because of bad law enforcement wanting to make his case open and shut. Thanks to that thorsen has a skill of perspective something few cops, detectives or any law enforcement have.

I feel like this should have been in a separate episode. The Greenlight episode should have been split in half: the first covering the green light and Anderson's death, and the second focusing on a massive manhunt for Cole Midas while the characters mourn Anderson. Making the episode like this makes it feel condensed.

I hope we see a new captain enter the rookie in season 6. After Andersens death by the southern front, and capt. Tom Weatherbys set up promotion by Sgt. Grey with the intention of getting him away from Mid-Wilshire Station, us fans have not seen an LAPD captain since. There was a reference to a "Captain Maudox" in the episode of Greys shooting, and another reference to a captiain when Nolans son is taken into hospital, but no Capt. has been seen on screen since Weatherby. Shame, I liked Andersens character so I wanted their to be a proper replacement. In terms of season 6, introducing an LAPD captain would be a great opportunity to introduce a new character. Cmon Rookie Universe, at the very least give us a reference to Andersen, she was a well loved character by us fans. 👍

Just something in the Reflex sight of Lopez's rifle. For those who remember Independence Day there's a scene in the Oval Officer where the two officers come in and show a image of the mothership with the smaller ships breaking off, it looks exactly like the red image in the sight at time index 2:00.

This was a very good episode, including officers following protocol, while also showing their emotions and love for their captain verses keeping them inside which some officers do resulting unfortunately in PTSD for example. Albeit some episodes do not accurately reflect at least in Canada the large amount of personal discretion and judgement that individual officers have on whether they charge a person or not. I have seen two episodes in which officers charged people, as someone made a complaint. Officers use their own discretion as to whether a charge is warranted. As well ultimately it is up to Crown Counsel in Canada whom determines whether a charge is laid. An example my friend works in the RCMP, she during several incidences she was called to used her very good de escalation skills to mitigate domestic disputes often returning to see how everyone is doing. When people are really emotional they can say or make up all kinds of things, including that they wish someone to be charged. She wishes to add to the quality of people's lives and relationships, verses ad litigation and court stress. As well with small item impulse shoplifting some people do so for attention thus she talks with them to see how they are doing; is genuine and kind. They don't re offend, as they just wanted some care and attention often many have middle class jobs ect... She has told me lots of these kinds of stories with confidentiality of course.

Nice test by Grey. To see whether Nolan could perservere or let his emotions take over.
@cdubbau135 Жыл бұрын
I don't think it was a test. Grey knew that Nolan needed this. He needed to assuage his guilt to any extent possible, because Grey knew that if Nolan didn't, it would probably eat him alive. Also, I think Grey did it to show that he accepts Nolan now, because when Nolan first arrived, Grey was very antagonistic towards him. But these are just my opinions.
