My sister does that with people she likes. We had a plumber come in to do a pretty significant job and he "only" charged her $500. She paid that in cash and gave him a $300 tip. Her thought was that if she did that, when she needs him again, he'll put her at the top of his list.

Those are actually box arts for model planes in the 70s, they used to have hand painted drawings for each plane showing a battle or something, later they stopped having battles but those look amazing

John, I really appreciate your integrity, as demonstrated by your offering the man fair prices and part of the profit on the mug. You could have easily have given him the $200 and been on your way, but you were up-front about the price. I watched someone else take a very young man by just paying the $20 he asked for an item the buyer knew was worth $800-1K! I challenged him on it and he blew me off and called me stupid. He was obviously in it for himself and the kid didn't know any better. You are a class act, sir. I'm so glad that there are still good people around when so much of the world is sour. Thank you!

I was at a garage sale Saturday and this guy had 75 or so 1/18 scale die cast from Auto World that were so impressive, but he knew the value and wanted like $75 each for them. I felt like the value was there and looked them up afterwards to broaden my knowledge, but the initial investment was way above my level right now. hopefully in 9 months when another opportunity presents itself like this I will be in a better position.
