Head of Thy Church triumphant, We joyfully adore Thee; Till Thou appear, Thy members here Shall sing like angels in glory: We lift our hearts and voices With blest anticipation, And cry aloud, and give to God The praise of our salvation. The name we still acknowledge That burst our bonds in sunder, And loudly sing our conquering King, In songs of joy and wonder. In every day's deliverance Our Jesus we discover; 'Tis He, 'tis He that smote the sea, And led us safely over! While in affliction's furnace, And passing through the fire, Thy love we praise Which knows our days, And ever brings us nigher: We lift our hands exulting In Thine almighty favor; The love Divine Which made us Thine, Shall keep us Thine for ever. By faith we see the glory To which Thou shalt restore us, The cross despise For that high prize Which Thou hast set before us; And if Thou count us worthy, We each, as dying Stephen, Shall see Thee stand At God's right hand To lead us to the Kingdom.

Surprised i sang this hymn in my dream over and over this dawn. Don't know what such a dream means though. But I really enjoyed it. Glory be God!
@singuntothelord17083 жыл бұрын
The title of the hymn is "Fearless in the fire of tribulation" so I believe that is why its lines confirm the faithfulness and provision of our God even in "affliction's furnace" and that blessed assurance of the victory God gives us through our Lord Jesus Christ. So I encourage you to sing your victory always. 2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the fragrance of his knowledge by us in every place.

What does "dying Stephen" mean? (I am not a native English speaker. I would like to translate it.)
@singuntothelord1708 Жыл бұрын
I believe Wesley was referring to the martyrdom of Stephen. When Stephen was dying, he saw a vision of God with Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Wesley meant that if we bear the cross despite the cost, we will also see Jesus at the instance of death and He will take us to heaven just as He took Stephen to heaven. I hope my explanation helps
@andra-veronicaenache6401 Жыл бұрын
@@singuntothelord1708 thank you very much! I was thinking it was a reference to Stephen's martyrdom, too, but, not being a native English speaker, it was just a supposition (I was, let's say, 50% sure I was correct, but also thought maybe there is another explanation that I might be missing, like maybe it is an English expression that cannot be literally translated, as, for instance the expression "piece of cake" or "barking at the wrong tree" or "a bitter pill to swallow" etc.). Thank you for your answer!
