My Mother used to say something similar and (tho I didn't realize it) her wonder and joy about heaven filtered into my heart. Now, at almost 76 years old...that same wonder is mine right along with her and you! One day...I will meet you in heaven and perhaps you and I will talk about this conversation! I will introduce you to Mother! Blessings!!

Such wondrous salvation truths, in these lyrics. Yes! Everything we begin and end with is IN HIM. He deserves ALL the Praise and Glory. He is our righteousness, sanctification, wisdom and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1.30. He is our Gift. He is our Eternal Life. We are eternally secure, sealed by His Spirit, the moment we believe in the Gospel of His Grace and Love. ❤ We are Complete, only in Him. These are but a few reasons to lift our voices in thanksgiving and praise. What a beautiful hymn. 🎶🎵🎶🎶 Blessings and kindest regards David from Australia 🌏 🙄☝️

That final part of the song that says "Bold I approach..." is overwhelming, I wouldn't even dare to see the Eternal Throne but, maybe because I'm yet a poor human being, and if God wants me to be in His Heaven may I not claim the Crown but lay at His feet in all gratitude

There is another verse that belongs to this hymn. It comes in between 'Long my imprisoned spirit' and No condemnation now dread.. Still the small inward voice I hear, That whispers all my sins forgiven; Still the atoning blood is near, That keeps me clean and fit for heaven. I feel the life his blood imparts; I feel my Saviour in my heart. I wonder why we lost it? Too Wesleyan?
@ILoveOldTWC2 жыл бұрын
Actually it comes between "And Can it Be" and "He left His Father's Throne". ’Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies! Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love Divine! ’Tis mercy all! let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more. ’Tis mercy all! let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more.

I love key changes or interludes beforcthe last verse and this had niether but the truth of the words are bone chilling. The origion version of the first verse reads "Emptied Himself of all BUT love," which signifies that Jesus has enough livecro go around. This version says, all HIS love ehicj implies he poured His over out to save us by dying on the cross but further gives the idea that He has no more love to give.

And can it be that I should gain An int'rest in the Savior's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain- For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Refrain: Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? He left His Father's throne above So free, so infinite His grace Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam's helpless race: 'Tis mercy all, immense and free, For, O my God, it found out me! (Refrain) Long my imprisoned spirit lay, Fast bound in sin and nature's night; Thine eye diffused a quick'ning ray I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. (Refrain) No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine; Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness divine, Bold I approach th' eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own. (Refrain)

Exactly what most contemporary, "evangelical", non-denominational churches shun! They are missing the reverence, joy and power of the congregation singing great hymns together. And thinking all along that the insipid, boy-band clap-trap being blasted at the, by performers on a stage is "worship". More is the pity. What these congregations are missing is nothing short of the glory of the Temple, indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
