In this episode I decided to take head shots only. Even though it was a fairly windy day, my compact Lelya still proved to be a great tool in the fight against pest birds. Enjoy watching!

just wondering. looks like the pellets are going straight tru em whit quite the power. would it not be better if the pellet dumped all its power into the target? i dont know if a hollowpoint would change that. Or if you would lose accurecy. And i assume you have tested alot of bullets and overpenetration is not a problem where your shooting. Great video looks like alot of fun, and greetings from a Non hunter.

Yes, nerves shutting down, Todd. That's why headshots usually make for a spectacular sight that scares anyone who doesn't have a clue of what exactly is going on. And also that's why I don't take headshots at new permissions - workers tend to assume I'm torturing the flying rats.
@AirRifleActivities4 жыл бұрын
@vfxardist, okay, but people call them that because of the results of their behaviour, namely the mess they make at their feeding and nesting grounds. Not because they resemble real rats in their anatomy. Think of this as a nickname those birds were given by people who have to endure and take care of their filth first hand.

Nice shooting 👍 Are you using full scope mag in most of the shots.
@AirRifleActivities4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Andrew, and thanks, brother 🤝 No, the max mag on my Athlon Argos is x24 and I usually shoot at no higher than x18 or x20. On some long shots I zoom out to about x12 or x14 to see more reference points on my reticle for holdover (my scopes are first focal plane).
@andrewclaxton64464 жыл бұрын
@@AirRifleActivities Okey dokey 👍 I use a Hawke Frontier ffp & leave it on 15x mag for all my shots, have considered getting a higher mag scope for a better shot placement but i don't shoot beyond 55 yards, so i don't know if its worth me getting a higher mag scope.
@andrewclaxton64464 жыл бұрын
@@AirRifleActivities My shooting style is aim, focus, pull the trigger, the less i need to do i think is better if i had to alter the mag zoom on top before the pigeon etc moves or flys off.
@AirRifleActivities4 жыл бұрын
No, Andrew, x15 mag is enough for shots well over 55 yards. There's nothing wrong with your style of shooting - after all this is a hobby, we do it for fun too. Obviously we help farmers too. I know what you mean by saying you don't want to risk the bird taking off - making those vids takes some preparation before each shot and sometimes the pigeons do fly off before I manage to pull the trigger... The inevitable drawback of making videos 😉
@andrewclaxton64464 жыл бұрын
@@AirRifleActivities Yes very true 👍 With Crows/Magpies i find that they don't stay long before moving or flying away unlike Pigeons, so i think the less i need to do is better before pulling the trigger, sometimes i don't get the chance to even focus,can be frustrating.

Hey, bud. Hello from Europe 👋 Thank you for watching and stay safe and healthy - I know it's quite bad over there with this Covid-19.

Hola espectaculares tiros pero me gustaria saber si tienen control con los nidos de palomas o solamente matan las adultas
@AirRifleActivities27 күн бұрын
Thanks, amigo, and I wouldn't know about pigeons nests, they may nest tens of kilometres away.

Gun sounds like when u flick a empty gas cylinder to see if anything is in it lol
@AirRifleActivities3 жыл бұрын
This is because of the camera being too close to the hammer of the gun, buddy 🙂 A common thing to hear that ping sound on a PCP.

Doesn't shooting INSIDE THE GRAIN Sheds run the risk of spraying pigeon blood over the floor and grain?
@AirRifleActivities3 жыл бұрын
True, but it's the only way to get them out of there. Otherwise what they spray over the grain on a regular basis is feces, Andrew.
@PENFOLD19623 жыл бұрын
@@AirRifleActivities yes when you put it like that I know which I would prefer out of the two.
