I have a 760 pumpmaster that I inherited from my old landlord. I thought it was just another cheap bb gun until I fired it. The thing is a beast.
@joebauers3746 Жыл бұрын
I had one in the early 80's, with BB's it outshot every other gun in the neighborhood. I think it is smoothbore, so it did better than the higher end Daisy guns that had rifled barrels, which did better with pellets.
@doubleemcastillano464 Жыл бұрын
They had one with a fiber optic front sight. All black with a pellet clip that held 5 pellets horizontally in the gap where the bbs feed into the chamber. That would fall between the last generation and the second gen you showed. That was my first Crosman Pumpmaster…around 2010-2012ish.

Shout out to Jack Vadas, V.P. engineering/ chief of engineering. The original 760 designer. His son was 10 years old in 65, and was put into service for R&D. He shot 10 1500 count milk cartons a day until he had shot a million times! He still owns that original prototype. The 1966 price was 27.95. Adjusted for inflation would be over 220.00 today

Fun stuff for sure. I had a crosman when I was a teenager too. Was an old beat up thing I had gotten from my grandfather. But stock was missing but still shot like nobody’s business! He used to raise chickens and ducks at his house in the city and he used that gun to dispatch them as he needed. Not legal to discharge a firearm in the city limits.

Always enjoy watching especially on the older items. The 760 is a great starter rifle for anyone. Plus it helps build up arm muscles while pumping lead & steel Downrange. Rumble for some reason isn't alerting me but I keep checking. Take care. I agree the sinus infection can be worse than some Covid inf.

@@WalnutandSteel I know you have the Norinco copy of the Browning 22A. Just had Smoky Mtn. Guns & Ammo popup an ad on the Browning newest version. It has different drop on comb , tactical rail & muzzle brake added for $939. I will keep my $99 Norinco. Modernized isn't always better. Mr. Browning might like it though.

Great video, really enjoyed it. I have an old 1979 Crosman 766 that I bought at a pawn shop about ten years ago. It's like the 760 but it's much larger, and also shoots either BB's or pellets. It shoots great, very accurate with pellets. It has a rifled barrel. I had seen the little 760 at wal-mart and decided to buy it because it was only 30 dollars. And I have to say, I really enjoy it and it shoots just great, far better than I expected, being a smooth bore. I can get about a 2" group at 12 yards or so with pellets, free-standing, not bad at all. With BB's I can hit soda cans at 15 yards every time, so it's great with BB's too. I'm really enjoying the 760.

I had a 760 in the 90s, and that thing was sweet. It would go into wood about 3-4 inches, had a bit of power. I got a new one a couple of years ago, and man I was very disappointed with it, it would go into wood about 1 inch. So i think the older ones used to be more powerful than they make them now.

The older ones were made with a lot of metal and seem to be of a higher quality(at least in my opinion) the new one has no weight to it and feels like a toy. Compared to the older ones.

I had my father's old 760, had to be 1980s atleast, had a plastic butt stock but all metal reciever and the brass bolt and to this day it's the only gun Ive sold or lost, I had it in my barn for years with a crosman 2100 and used it all the time for rodents and suddenly I couldn't find it, so maybe someone took it , I used to find kids breaking in to.mess around and to this day I kick myself in the butt for not having it. I've never sold or got ridden of any other gun in my life. I'm 40 years old and still have my first real gun, a single shot .410, but everytime I see or touch a pellet gun I think of that old 760 and hate myself for not having it locked up or something.

Great collection there. You might want to check the barrels though; my late 90s 760 had a rifled barrel IIRC, as did all the older ones (they might have made smoothbores too I dunno) I believe - I remember because around 2001, Crosman first went to the five shot pellet clip, fiber optic front sight, and smoothbore barrel, at least on guns sold at Walmart; they've since done away with the clip and sight, but kept the smoothbore barrel, except on the M4 version you have... That old Webley Nemesis is a cool gun too, I believe they made a shoulder stock for those at one point too.... A question too if I may. What temperature do you keep your garage? You never list the temp readings in your CO2 chriny results that I see, and I've found CO2 guns are at their best in the 80-95 degrees F range; some may disagree, but I've had poor results below 70-80 degrees. King Regards and happy holidays to you.

Loved this presentation sir as I can relate to the generational changes over the life of the 760 as I've bought a few over the years. A couple of questions,,,should you have time to answer,,,, Do you know if there were ever any 760's made with any kind of rifling in the barrel? I've never heard of any myself but do not know. Next question is do you know of any manufacturer that makes a quality .22 cal. pump pellet gun with rifling? If you've a recommendation regarding that then please, by all means, advise. Lastly, how far away was this target? I'm assuming maybe 50 or 100 feet? Really enjoyed this work of yours. Thank you for any input/response and please keep up the great work my friend!! 😎👍🦌

@@WalnutandSteel Thank you. Any thoughts on my next purchase of a good .22 caliber pump pellet gun that is available with a rifled barrel,,,? For the squirrels that seem to want to move in with you this time of year? For years I've taken care of them with .22 cal. birdshot but man is that ever hard on a .22 cal rifle chamber,,, So are shorts and I want to just grab a great pellet gun for that and not destroy the chambers and rifling/lands in my .22 rifles. Thank you so very kindly for any recommendations! 😎👍🦌

I have the new 760 and use it mostly with bbs. In the garage at 30 ft I do 3 pump which is about 380 fps and It groups in the same hole. I think high fps hurts the accuracy of these cheap guns so I drop down for targets.

I inherited a Crosman 760 powermaster xl which needed to be revsealed wouldn't build any pressure. After rebuilding it shoots pretty good, but I was wondering when shooting with daisy pellets sometimes after pumping 3 to 4 times it won't fire the pellet. When shooting Crosman pellets it shoots perfectly. Wonder if it doesn't like daisy pellets? And when shooting bbs I noticed sometimes you can see the bbs fire and shoot crooked.
