As a PhD in translational medicine, I see a lot of BS for attracting investments only. What "advanced real-time molecular iamging techniques"? How they ensure 360° observation and manipulation during procedure? There is a ton of research into autonomous, fully robotic suturing and ligation, but I don't think there is one that could do what is required for this demo. Human anatomy might differ drastically, not only by size, but also blood vessel, muscle etc structures. There are also about half a dozen medical problems which if resolved currently have a chance to get Nobel Prize.

Created by a science communicator: The project is the work of Hashem Al-Ghaili, who aims to push boundaries and explore the potential of science. Not a real company: There's no incorporated business behind BrainBridge. The job postings are also part of the act. wait, you aren't giving new hope to patients with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Those are issues that begin and end in the brain. You give one of those patients a new body and they still have the diseased brain and it will trickle down to their new body. You had me thinking this could actually become a thing until you wrote that. Severed spinal cords, yes. However, even some diseases that leave the thinking brain intact are still brain initiated, for example, ALS starts in the brain stem. Even Polio affects the brain stem.

If all the blood is drained containing the anesthesia drug, how would the recipient not wake up?
@SoftAlexandra37 ай бұрын
We assume it's temporarily dead (not brain dead, but body dead), but oxygen is still in the cells, same as the anesthetics. Substances can still interact with the neurons and all other cells WITHOUT the need of blood. Blood is just a means of transportation and delivery of necessary substances. Plus, the operation is held at 5°C, which is close to the freezing point, maintaining integrity and avoiding degradation of the cells

Not gonna lie, this machine looks amazing. I can already imagine the amount of people this machine could save. The kind of technology, unfortunately, would be possible by the 2050s... if our best and brightest figure out how to pull it off.
