I mean let's be real you can't detach the head from a body and then detach a body from its head and then put those two things together and expect it to be alive. Pierce Morgan talks about the risks involved. There is no risk it definitely will not work and you will just be dead

So, it's a body transplant. Not a head transplant. I was wondering how that would work, since I figure the way your brain is made up makes you who you are. Getting a new head would change that. But he wants to keep his head and attach it to a healthy body. So it's a body transplant.
@sidewinder2057

Doesn't matter, it's just a semantics. You're transferring and planting head to another body, so it might be called head transplant.
@plumdutchess
@plumdutchess Жыл бұрын
@@sidewinder2057 No, it's not. Because the part the patient receives is the part that's transplanted. He keeps his head and gets another body. If someone gets a face transplant, you wouldn't say the owner of the face gets a new body. It's a body transplant. The head is what makes the person.

Which he hopefully did turn it down because head transplants seem very risky, you're better off getting a torso transplant, followed by arm and leg transplants. @@blackforest_fairy by transferring the heart, lungs, ribcage etc just seems like they should try to do a spine transplant before going full-on head transplant. Piers can stil get to the answers and potentially more if he was capable of rhe subtleties of effective communication. The only reason he's a television presenter of his genre isn't purely from seemingly not caring what people think. My best advice is to stay safe and fill your life with as much experiences and love as you can so that when your life does end, you can spend your final moments looking back with happiness and surrounded by loved ones. If it happens quickly then hey, who cares, you won't know you're not alive! I'm here if you wanna talk through this existential crisis.

that's not how disabilities work. this person's disease affects his muscles, leaving his brain unaffected, meaning that it's no miracle he's able to process sentences and questions. handicapped is an ableist word, you should use disabled instead. people's intelligence doesn't "balance" their disability, people don't have to have something to "make up" for their disability. disabilities aren't even always a bad thing. they may make people unable to do certain things, but that doesn't mean they aren't able to lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Wow, amazing and unbelievable, if it will be successful, this patient will have a new life in a new healthy body. What a dangerous operation. This patient realizes that he either will live or die. As he is now he has a crippled body that is useless. I hope it will work out. Let him be the first. Good luck. He’s very brave for science.

No head transplant has yet been performed on a person, Finally, managing the nervous systems in both the body and the head is essential, in several ways The autonomic nervous system controls essential functions like breathing and the heart beating and is governed largely by the brain stem; if the recipient body's head is removed this can no longer function

According to those who out in the time to further research it, he didn't go through with it. He had a realization that him being with his family was something he should be for rather than risk his life for something that won't make thing better for anyone but himself. A shame, but it's his decision, and one made out of love.

I’m all for helping ppl living better lives through transplants, organs, body parts, and so forth, but, a head transplant seems impossible. Many of these more complicated transplants fail because of the amount of massive blood loss during surgery. Blood transfusions don’t have time to clot. Might as well try to just switch brains.
