Which he hopefully did turn it down because head transplants seem very risky, you're better off getting a torso transplant, followed by arm and leg transplants. His head works so they should build around that instead of cutting it off. Like you can legitimately do a Frankenstein on me if my arms and legs stop working

It doesn't make sense to transplant somebody who is just ahead and is paralyzed from the neck down, if we couldn't unparalyzed them why would they think that they could transplant a head and have it work?

that's not how disabilities work. this person's disease affects his muscles, leaving his brain unaffected, meaning that it's no miracle he's able to process sentences and questions. handicapped is an ableist word, you should use disabled instead. people's intelligence doesn't "balance" their disability, people don't have to have something to "make up" for their disability. disabilities aren't even always a bad thing. they may make people unable to do certain things, but that doesn't mean they aren't able to lead a happy and fulfilling life.

@@lelisbet and why do you think that? sure, disabilities often give people many disadvantages, but many of those disadvantages would be fixed if society wasn't ableist. also, having many hardships in your life is much more likely to make you a better person than if you barely had any hardships. you could say being disabled is a good thing in that regard because it can make you more sympathetic to other people who are also struggling in some way.

As soon as he got a girlfriend, he probably realized the surgery isn't what he needed but a human connection. So a person who is in a stable state of mind and isn't looking for something else besides surgery, would be willing to risk the surgery.

He didn't want to have to leave them for the long period of time it would take to undertake and recover from the operation. I guess he no longer has "nothing to lose" as Piers Morgan puts it. I’m all for helping ppl living better lives through transplants, organs, body parts, and so forth, but, a head transplant seems impossible. Many of these more complicated transplants fail because of the amount of massive blood loss during surgery. Blood transfusions don’t have time to clot. Might as well try to just switch brains.
