@bajeboi for me it's a little easier to tell falsetto from head voice (if by head voice they mean whistle register) based on mouth shape. I think falsetto is mostly when the purse their lips (push/elongate their mouth/jaw) to get the note, and head voice is when they're extremely smiling (compressing their throat) to get that high note. hope that helps. ^_^

yeah, quite a few of them are actually using whistle register (head voice) instead of falsetto, the diffrence isn't so much about how high the note is (although head voice can get higher then falsetto, it can often be pretty low) it's more about how the note is being produced. I've seen a few range videos and artist hit f5 in chest and can hit f5 in falsetto it's similar with falsetto and head, they can over lap a bit...^_^

@adorkablekid You are right, this Video is titled wrong, Falsetto is a male Voice which happens after the vocal break a Man gets, not a woman. This is head voice. Singing in higher notes does not mean it's falsetto- listen to Prince's KISS if you want to hear a real Falsetto.

@SuperPianogirl123 i wasn't trying to offend. >_< I do however have to say that Leona's higher register and her use there of has drawn comparison to Mariah's. Yes they have different ranges and mariah's is difinitively bigger and goes higher, but hitting in the 6th octave (on pretty much every song Leona sings) in pop/r&b since 2005 is relatively rare.

There's only a number of singers that I can tell their falsetto/head voice apart from any other singers. Those are Leona Lewis, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. 1. Leona (Control and acrobat) 2. Mariah (Control and tone -- FYI she's a better singer overall, just not falsetto,I believe) 3. Whitney (Clarity, better overall singer than Leona, not Mariah though.)

Its been a contravesal issue for a long time if females can do it, but even with solid proof they can people refuse to acknowledge it. The trouble is, because of this failure to acknowledge it there have been a lot of females who have been incorrect labelled in the wrong scale (Mezzo-soprano as Soprano for example).

It doesn't imply that they're equal or that Leona is better. The rarity of a 6th octave note (in R&B/pop) and the fact hitting in the sixth octave isn't exactly possible (under normal circumstances) without being able to go into "falsetto or whistle register" is the basis for the comparison between the two. I was confused about register versus range.
