Head2Head - Air Arms S510 vs FX Dreamline

As an owner of a Streamline 0.22, in walnut, I love the trigger and shots per fill. One thing to note is that FX only offers a 3 year warranty, while Air-Arms is lifetime. That, combined with the fully adjustable stock, would be a hard thing to beat. The S510 may be my next standard rifle.

Dream line synthetic in 1.77 straight from the box light manoeuvrable,loves air arms Diablos ,jsbs deadly accurate. All weather stock ,deadly accurate . On target at 100 metres . Interchangeable barrels a lot lighter easier to use. Two really well constructed magazines excellent trigger and very well engineered block. FX everyday for me .

Being an owner of an Air Arms S510 R Ultimate Sporter, I can safely say that I’ve either been really unlucky or Air Arms quality has taken a recent nose dive. My brand new S510 lasted 10 days before the first 4 pellets on every magazine fell well below my targets. The fifth hitting the bullseye. So, back to Air Arms it went… 3 weeks later it comes back and accuracy has been restored…. BUT during the “repair” the dovetail was damaged. This time I went back to the gun shop who replaced my S510R action with another, (straight out of the box) which had a faulty trigger and was way down on power. Ok lets try another one, again straight out of the box. This one had scratches on the moderator, missing paint on the trigger and cocking lever, and uneven machining on the trigger guard. So I went home with my “repaired, damaged gun”. Air Arms have said that they will replace the action but will need to receive mine first - there is another 3 week wait… I’m now preparing the gun to be sent back for replacement and I’ve now noticed that its leaking air. Lots of air. Left unused for 7 days it lost 125 bar of charge. Don’t get me wrong, when the S510R actually works properly it performs well and has superb handling. So thank you guys for posting this video. The FX might be a worthy replacement

I call it a draw on all counts. For the accuracy you would need to have each shooter shoot both guns and compare results. Where power and consistency are concerned 2 ftlb isn't a significant difference, and I guarantee the Dreamline would be just as if not more consistent after a full break-in period. Shot count is also important, especially for those who use their gun for hunting small game. Personally I would absolutely love to have either one in my collection.

I have an S-510 ultimate Sporter, .25. The stock won't break if you hit a bear. I Love it. Have a thumbhole stock too. Have a crown and an impact too. They are all needle threaders.

If the gun is to used for hunting in the woods the barrel band on the AA is a big plus ahead of the FX and I hope that FX will offer a barrel support option for the Dreamline. There is already at least one third party company offering a barrel support for the Dreamline which appears to do the job but is not very nice looking.

It needs a barrel support. My point of impact changes dramatically with a moderator. You can see it weighing it down. It makes the barrel touch the air cylinder.

@@molecatcher3383 Hey I just slipped a o-ring over my air cylinder. now the barrel rests on the oring so it doesn't bounce against the air cylinder when I am walking, and my point of impact doesn't change with a moderator. I should have thought of it sooner.

Theres always 3d printing. The barrel band isnt a major issue for a 1000+ dollar air gun in the woods, you generally arent rowing a canoe with it as a paddle.

My 2015 versions of the Sporter was a regular stock s 510. I added the ultimate stock, and a Neil Clague moderator. Very quiet. I also have Huggetts, and Donny Fl. my old impact is a superior field rifle. The AA stock is very fine on the bench. my crown with the .25 slug barrel is wickedly accurate at 150 yards. I did it a crow at 137 yards with the AA using a atn x-sight, first shot. using the computer. I just want all of the high end rifles and pistols. The AA with the thumbhole stock, and a sling is light, and very nice. had the stock clear coated, so it's a bit tougher forscratches.

I don't take too much notice of out-of-the-box comparisons. Default factory settings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Given the tune-ability of the Dreamline, I would suggest that it is easily capable of exceeding or at least matching the performance of the S510.

So here's the question, and possibly one thing missing from this test. You guys went over some things that were important but, with everyone who watches this channel also being subscribed to Matt dubber and the other crew down in South Africa, we want to know whether or not these rifles will shoot slugs right out of the box. With the incredible new technology explosion of slugs being introduced, we are seeing people on the internet channels and forums shooting starlings and sparrows out to 200 yards and more, this is quickly going to leave all others in this high price category which only shoot pellets in the dust. I would never spend $2,000 + Honey rifle unless it is going to be used primarily if not exclusively for slugs. Will either of these shoot slugs, or does the FX dreamline come with a slug liner?

I would call it a draw, especially in category 1, the build quality & ergonomics. The trigger pull as well - nothing wrong with a 1 lb trigger and they're both adjustable. The accuracy? That 8-shot group on the Dreamline was pretty compelling. If I was in the market for one of these, I think I would get the Dreamline.

The air arms has barrel made from lothar walther thats why accuracy is awesome but the air arms doesnt came with regulators and smaller volume air cylinder, fx came with monoblock aluminium chamber, regulator but they lack in magazine design which still use spring rotary, the air tube is come from china vs steel blueing of england, for all fx little bit superior but my hands down at air arms

That was a nice review but if you point out that the dream line gets more shots then the s510 the standard deviation would not be accurate. but with the extra shots the dream line is the ultimate winner. The standard deviation of the s510 will be much higher after making 60 shots. Plus the use of slugs in the dreamline would give a much higher bc and better grouping. so to me the modular upgrade is also a winner. The ability of the dreamline to add many many extras ,as were in the s510 is at its best and only has 25 shots.After upgrades to the dreamline with bottle adapter and other stuff it is hitting 100-110 shots slug barrel liner and 600 and 700mm barrels and liners. it to me is the best gun, More diverse ability to be able to be changed to suit the need and ability of the hunter or pester as needed. the s510 is stuck at 25 shots. Using the same 250 bar they both have FX shows it has a better ability to use the air given and give time after time better acuracy the the s510. but thats just my idea.

Great job guys! and the humor is getting better. Love these videos. One suggestion: The Head to Head videos needs to add a category. "Form to Function" Does the design, engineering, and materials meet the intended purpose. Sporter = Hunting ******THE FX is the TRUE WINNER.****** 1.) British beauty for $1499 is a target rifle, bragger, or wall decoration for hunting except in open terrain or fields. In wooded or heavy brush areas not good at all. Take my advise learned lesson. If an owner scratches it while hunting big price drop, anguish, and much agony. At current non sale prices the FX is available from $1079 in synthetic a "true hunter" to $1329 for pretty that's $170 to $420. 2.) While the British sell a great product but they have spent years perfecting a product because they have no 2nd AMENDMENT. So Air Arms and other European air rifles co. have served the hunting and target industry in Europe for years at 12 F.P.E. while we in the US have Air Rifles as a niche market. America air rifles would be a more superior product then they are now if they served the same purpose for as many years. So enough about the "British" HAHA! but you get the point 3.) True hunting air rifles will quickly be all going to slug barrels and ammo which FX is already supporting.

the standard lw barrel has but one use pellets. and for every different twist rate you have to change the barrel. but with the liners that is a 2 to 5 miunete chage were a barrel change is 20 plus. they are both made to exacting tolerances. but for my experiences i would go with fx. more choices ,more additions, more upgrades. better in quality in my mind and way of thinking, but thats what makes it great everyone has there own way of thinking

QUIET is as important to me as much as any other considerations (which are ALL excellent!), so unless you have found a moderator that will bring the dB of the S510 down to that of the Dreamline, I'm pretty sure the FX is going to be my next gun. The dreamline definitely won the accuracy. 0.07" difference in the group size is nothing, but the difference in the average deviation is huge. All of the AA's shots were almost like the 2 flyers of the dreamline.

The dreamline can be improved upon and those smooth twist barrels need to have break in. time. but the thing i like the most about the AA S510 is the power and consistency.... so I probably would buy the AA S510 over the FX Dreamline.... seems to be the over all better gun....??? maybe.

Air Arms S510 is my vote ! Only because I hear the FX's are very pellet picky, and I'd rather shoot an airgun that shoots most pellets well. Either way, I'm a Gauntlet price range guy.

You forgot to mention that the AA has an included built-in rail under the stock sitting flush within the stock. That’s about the only thing that the AA has on the FX. FX all the way for me:)

I'm tossing up between these two. Both top performers. Calibre and stock interchangeability is not a decider for me and I already have a Daystate Regal Xl which is an excellent all day field carry rifle. Price difference ? .... maybe, but probably not. If I'm going to spend that sort of money I'll fund my preferences. The adjustability of the S510 XS stock is an important plus for me as I am putting a toe in the competition shooting pond. The Air Arms HFT500 single shot looks good too. May end up with both, ..... lol ! Often the way.

I'd easily take the Dreamliner over the Air Arms. It all comes down to priorities. Quieter, super light and consistent trigger with over 2x the number of shots. Accuracy and FPE were virtually the same.

In my opinion a lighter trigger does not make Better trigger . I trust 1.4 lbs over 13.3 oz any day . The S510 shooter didn't do the gun any justice .

I've always lusted after Air Arms guns, but have never owned one to date. They ooze quality. However I give the win to the Dreamline, bc it's lighter and shorter, and has a much higher shot count. That means more shooting, and less filling. It was quieter as well, making it a far better gun to sling up and take to the field. That is after you add ur own sling studs!! The S510 would make a great benchrest, or field target gun.

Good overall side by side comparison of the 2 rifles. However the breakdown of the comparison is still going to be up to the shooter. Stock shape is important but different shooters may like different things. For me I like a synthetic stock over wood, and the ability to use AR grips is a plus. As for the trigger, the weight of pull is good but the feel and break of the trigger is far more important. I have made (with an M16a2 and open sights) good shots out to 800m and its trigger was 7-8 pounds but was clean and crisp. My Precision AR now has a 4 pound trigger and breaks ultra crisp due to highly polished parts. Dropping the pull down on a trigger sub 1 pound is nice but is it clean. As for shot count, more is always better but those shots need to be consistent in accuracy and velocity. All in All I say the Dreamline leads the pack on overall use but out of the box its the individual shooter that can say who wins. Around here there are no Air Gun shops, or ranges dedicated to them. So getting hands on with one is impossible here.

Just wondering about adjustability of the reg on the Dreamline. If reg is set for lower nuber does the shot count increase, and decrease if its set higher. Some reviews have commented that the power adjust on the air arms didn't really affect shot count.

Yes, the power adjuster on the S510 is a transfer port adjustment which doesn't affect shot count nearly as much as the regulator and hammer spring adjustment of the Dreamline. If you are shooting light pellets, you can back the power off on the Dreamline and get a lot of shots per fill. Not really possible on the AA.

Dreamline with high settings and 20 euro power plenum can hit 50+ ft lbs on 5.5 and more flexible rifle with stocks air tanks and barells easy fit all of this.. And you can tune it with a screwdriver in your home to 50 ft lbs..

Cool, but I have a $120 rifle I bought at dicks that does 100+ fpe, never needs charging and isn’t ammo picky. Lol. The air arms is the winner of the competition.

My results are about the same. AA s510 .25, Impact and crown are all pretty close and very accurate at 100 yards. My AA had a regulator and the hammer lightened by Motorhead. had the barrel lapped too. It holds groups as the Fx's. The fx's have longer range.

The shoots per magazine is too much important, and the shoots per fill too. Crown os absolutely superior. The sound is also very important in hunting. The weight in hunting too. No comparison.

beware of the comment section guys. there are a lot of marketing thing going on in a comparison video like this, there will always be a comment who claims he has the particular gun and broke it. but in reality he didn't so beware.

The S510 is a pig at 8.4 lbs. It would make a fine field-target gun. The Dreamline is 6lbs, has a better trigger, just as accurate as the s510, and $200 less. Far more shots per fill and quieter too. A much better hunter. Sorry FX, but no cigar!😕🔫.....😸󾓦
