I appreciate that many dealers go above and beyond to help after purchase. Having dealt with bad dealers in the past, including a main dealer with a brand new car who didn’t want to know after collection, they ruin it for everyone else. In the same respect customers with expectations that a used car will have no problems and no further costs also ruin it for everyone else.

enjoyed this one, I have to say that recently, i was that dad. I have to say that I accept that when you buy a used car, expecially when they're above certain age, it's not going to be as good as brand new. it's the compromise you make. Good video guys

My 7 year old 77k car, had it 7 months but put 10k on it, now has a squeal from the input shaft bearing. So I'm saving up to have it done ( and the clutch at the same time ). It hadn't occurred that I should go back to the dealer and try my luck. It's just one of those things 🤷‍♂

Chops is right. Can't afford a new one, so goes out buys a second hand one & expects to have it turned into a new one. Plus Joe was talking the other day about someone expecting new parts on a car and he could quite rightly got second hand part and good condition & got it to as good or maybe better than it was when purchased off him with a fresh mot.

Most houses are second hand and house prices keep rising, but if you pay top money you expect top condition and no problems.

Joe, most of us don't understand how customers, finance companies and warranty companies etc. can return the car or claim on the dealer months later? Would be good to see a video on that mate.

I work with a guy who was down on his luck and needed a car. A local man at the end of his street had an old Ford focus 2002 4 door run of the mill 120k miles. Old car. He felt sorry for him and sold it £180. After owning the car 5 years and passing every mot with basic bulbs and wipers, the alternator failed. He was so angry it failed he went to the guy who sold it to him and complained and accused him of ripping him off. I tried telling him it was an old car, and you've done unbelievably well get this far and only an alternator. I also told him that it was sold to him way too cheap at the time it was probably an £800 car at the time. But still, he wouldn't have it. We fell out over it a little. 😮

I sold a £500 car in a dealership because that's all the customer had. She was in tears sat across my desk because the insurance fuel and tax meant she was behind broke! I think though you should do a % figures of how many actual customers are good, no comebacks, complaints and I'm guessing it's a 80/20 rule figure. Otherwise you would be mad to do the job, well you are anyway but like you say, doing a deal, making a customer happy, dealing with cars, having a laugh and a few pence at the end of the day. Keep those wheels turning lads. 😃

I am still shocked till today that ther used Car market being so huge and apparently represented by different organisations, has not had a single organisation decide to take legal action or to do something against the laws which allow buyers to take the mick. With all the following you car KZbinrs have , you need to start a movement!

Australian (NSW anyways ) laws are much better for s dealers ,I sell Cheaper cars under $8000 with most of mine between 3 and 6 k , Now in NSW anything sold by a dealer less than 160,000 ks and under 10 years old has 3 months 5000 ks warranty anything over this comes with no statutory warranty ,however we must supply a safety inspection certificate (Pink Slip) which is to say the car is roadworthy , However we also have the ACC sale of goods which states the item must be suitable for the purpose it was purchased for , having regards to age and kms travelled . So What I myself do is all my cars leave here with 1month 1000k warranty by me and I also supply 12 months warranty and Roadside Assistance included on all cars (that are over 4k and have registration) . But people still complain . As for the finance once we supply the car and are paid from the finance thats it the finance company has no comeback on us. I have been going for 3 years last October and sold just over 300 cars and had 3 complaints to our Fair Trading and all three was on the Customer . thanks for the podcasts enjoy listening to them .

In that case everyone would save themselves 20% and head to auction themselves. I mean, why would anyone pay a dealer mark-up when they're getting nothing for it.
@clivet3252
@clivet3252 21 күн бұрын
@@huwsparky175303 exactly - you're paying a dealer for cars to be in better condition and to have the security of a warranty. If they just want to give them a wash and sell them on then price them accordingly. And if they're paying too much for cars at auction then that's their problem.

These moaning customers want to try buying a brand new car. Mine is now 1 year old and has had two recalls and my friend’s car was new in November and has just had a major electronic control unit replaced that went knackered at 3 days old. And, she has had to wait 6 weeks for the part to be provided because a car that has been on sale for over 3 years in Europe is so new there is a spare part shortage! Bit of an engine rattle at over hundred thousand miles on a 10 year old car is nothing. I once bought a Saab 93 at 4 years old with 90,000 miles on the clock as an Approved Saab used car complete with full factory warranty for 12 months on it. Yes it need a few bits replacing but they were free and I kept it😂 10 years and never had a problem with it, just servicing every year kept it running just fine.

Using the “Curry’s” analogy, as a customer, you would get less customer care or attention for a new fridge if it went wrong, than a used car from a dealer. Just try contacting them with a grievance or a problem, they aren’t interested or make it very hard. Yet, a customer buying a 10 year old 100k mile Focus expects the world!! It’s mental how the car trade has been backed into this corner where customers expect a new car for old car money. and, the dealer has to bend over and take in the back door! If you buy a Fridge on finance, you don’t get an extended warranty because it’s a personal loan! 6:04 Maybe there is a business model for a customer care company that deals with (or like Curry’s, doesn’t deal with) all customer complaints!!!!

@@clivet3252 depends on what the condition of the focus is and what type of fridge. My point is, you should not expect an old banger to come with the same level of protection as a new car. Even the manufacturer only usually warrants all the parts for three years so why, would you expect a used dealer to warrant a car, past the time that the original manufacturer would!? It’s crazy!
