Nice, thanks for the watch! That’s exactly why I made the video, it deserves to be recognized for how impressive it is.

Yo so you can mod the omni. Its actually built for it. In your shots of the PCB you can see a bunch of headers on the board left side just above the middle. They are labelled Midi 3v3/G/1/2/3/4, 3v3/G/5/6/7/8. Solder some buttons onto those and they fire out midi signals when activated. So you can then program those buttons to whatever function you want in fresher/whatever your using for dj'ing. I was lucky enough to nab a white one while they were in production :)

Thanks for the video. Glad you covered this much underrated product. I still have my modified Numark, and can still play 12in records, unlike the stx. Look forward to owning an Omni. Cheers

It will definitely be an upgrade. Thanks for watching!

I have yet to see any other portable come close. I understand the appeal of the DIY scene, but Omni is the complete solution. Has everything you need and looks something an adult can leave in the living room. The only issue I’ve had is the hamster switch bugging out sometimes, but resetting is quick and easy.
@coolhandlex Жыл бұрын
Peace anttiskate, appreciate you checking in! Good point on the aesthetics too, it definitely looks less out of place in a hifi setup than some other portables. I haven’t heard of any issues with the reverse button, how does it act when it messes up and what do you do to correct it?
@anttiskate Жыл бұрын
@@coolhandlex I bough a very early production model (opaque lid), so probably not an issue any more. The bug basically meant that the fader switching buttons stopped responding if you wanted to switch sides or to go hamster mid session. You could keep cutting, so only a minor annoyance. :)

Great vid!! I have an Omni and wish I could plug it directly into my MacBook to control Serato. I saw Serato in your video. How did you make that work?

Great video thanks! I would agree the Omni would be in more peoples hands if it wasn't for availability and the shipping costs from Hong Kong. Hopefully in the future a dealer in North America will offer them. The new Stanton STX looks great but it would still need multiple mods to have the same feature set of the Headache Omni.
@coolhandlex Жыл бұрын
I’m reserving judgement on the STX until I can spend some quality time with it but based on what I can see, you’d need to add another fader, an aluminum platter, and upgrade the tonearm + cart to get to the Omni level. In defense of the STX though, the lower price point reflects some of those differences. I hope to do either an STX review or a comparison video with the Omni here soon!

Thinking of starting my scratching journey, can decide on STX or Omni just yet….not even sure if I’ll be good at it but I make beats so it would be fun to cut on them

Couldn't live with those noisy loose faders, remind me of the Stanton optical ones.. can you plug and play an innofader into these?!

Does it play 12 inch records? For digging purposes.

Yes it does! Shown in action about 6:40 or so in the video

It can play them, but the 12" record will cover the faders, so you can't scratch with them.

Wah, this Banny guy really power sia. He steady go and find a solid spindle for the platter, want to make sure don't need to spend 100 euros on some atas aftermarket platter. I tell you ah, they the only portable scratch deck that really put in effort to make a solid product and understand their target market. All the others just anyhow make, want to chop carrot only, never listen to the people who use them. People always complain about their customer support, but I understand lah, small company up against big corps. Big corps can just anyhow send out another unit and hope it works this time, you know? Tough sia, really got to tahan and sabo like that.
