I was never really a Motley Crue fan from the beginning. I was "missing" the bands I partied to back in the 70's. When I heard the song Life Is Beautiful I had to find out who that band was. I new that Nikki Sixx had overdosed in 1987 and had actually been pronounced clinically dead. He owes his life to a major Crue fan who happened to be an EMT and basically refused to let him die. I find it very commendable that Nikki Sixx decided to take his horrible experience, write a book, a soundtrack to the book to try to help any of the homeless youth stay off the street, drugs, etc by donating a portion of the proceeds to Running Wild In The Night/Covenant House. How many other people have the talent & desire to turn other peoples lives around by going public with such a personal traumatic event. (I still don't care for Motley Crue lol)

He actually sings better nowadays as opposed to how he sounded in old live stuff. Less throaty, more correct and healthy from a technical standpoint. You need to sing correctly if you have to take long tours, and it looks as if he's going to a coach to take proper singing lessons. Also sounds to me as if he is still not totally confident with the new way of singing, and because of this some parts are losing some edge and energy obviously, but he'll eventually learn how to put it back there in an healthy way for his voice. What's important is that he's pretty much always in tune, and his voice is holding on in good shape until the end of the gig. I have no doubt his performances will be getting stronger and bolder as they tour more in the next years. He just needs to adjust to the new way of singing.

James has an awesome voice....He just cant do what he does in the studio, onstage. He seems really uncomfortable and the big problem here is that every single song is too high for him. He's not even enjoying himself...he's more worried about hitting the high notes than he is enjoying himself and the awesome experience of being onstage with guys like Nikki and DJ...LOWER THE KEYS to all his songs he does live.

I'm listening through headphones and poor James is just struggling. He doesn't have to sing it like the recording. You would think he worked out the arrangement ahead of time that best fit his live voice. The song "Stars" he's singing in the wrong key. He claims to be a studio engineer but if you want to frontman of a band and perform live gigs hire a vocal coach.
@bufherman9 жыл бұрын
mmmmm they need a rhythm guitar if they want a better sound, great performance after all

Ok man.. but think about it, they have people singing the chorus, but can't have a better rhythm?, James Michael plays Guitar, is not necesary a new man in the band

kingspadeklick813 I guess you meant Synyster is not that good... right ? :-)
@WadeMitchell8139 жыл бұрын
Laurent Rosset Uh no. DJ Ashba is one of TWO lead guitarists in Guns N Roses. As in it takes TWO people to lay down the leads that Slash could handle all on his own. I love DJ but he's nothing more than a wanna be Slash replacement, where Syn has created his own voice with his guitar. If you really think Synyster Gates is a bad guitar player than you're clearly as ignorant as the shithead who asked whether or not Nikki Sixx was in Sixx:AM somewhere else in this comment section.
@Timothay29 жыл бұрын
kingspadeklick813 Couldn't say one way or another if Syn is good or bad, hate their lead singers voice so I don't listen to them. DJ isn't shit, he's a technical player which for some that doesn't work, can't please everyone but DJ is not a bad player in any meaning of the word.
@WadeMitchell8139 жыл бұрын
Tim Roane I didn't once say DJ is a BAD guitar player. I simply said he's not as good as Syn Gates. And I don't really care how you feel about Avenged Sevenfold, so that was an irrelevant part of your comment.

they are a lot tighter, musically, than Crue ever was. Seriously, Crue wasn't that great live - it was loud and sloppy. Vince lost his breath more than not and he sounded winded and tired. But I'm impressed with this. They actually play as a band....good job, Nikki Baby!!
@CARETAKER89able9 жыл бұрын
+Stacy Bauer You cant be serious crue not great live,you probaly never saw them in their prime like the Doctor feelgood tour, loudest concert i have ever been to.
@stacybauer16349 жыл бұрын
I've seen Crue over 20 times....at some shows, it was too loud to even hear what they were singing. Others, they were spot on. But the majority of shows were distorted. I've been seeing Crue since 1986....and this is MY opinion. I don't care about yours.
@stacybauer16349 жыл бұрын
And define Prime.....My first show was actually Theatre of Pain ( saw 3 shows for this tour), Then Girls (saw them one time for this tour), then Dr. Feelgood (saw them 2 times on this tour).....I think I got their "prime" covered.

The lead singer is a terrible frontman. He looks like he came straight from a bad Broadway play. He sure is singing FLAT mostly throughout this whole show. DJ Ashba isn't good enough to be the lone guitar player in any band. This band is bad.
@danimal0975219 жыл бұрын
+Green John Please. I felt the same about Ashba...until I actually gave the guy a listen. He's a hell of a guitar player. He's also got the balls to essentially replace Slash and then Mick Marts with Nikki here. I'd the musicians he's working with have more of a grasp of how good he is than you do.
@danimal0975219 жыл бұрын
+Green John And being that the only person you didn't bash was Sixx....gotta figure your a Motley fan. I am to. But your going to bash this singer for sounding flat? Have you ever heard Vince Neil live? LOLOLOL I love Motley, but this guy sings Vince under the table.
